I posted back in June about the one instance of Total Shutdown of our E70 3.0d, well it reoccured about three weeks ago - engine died, wouldn't restart -lots of cranking, then when I got even more infuriated, I took the key out of the dash, pressed the lock then unlock buttons, and it restarted ...

Has anyone else had total and complete loss of power/shutdown.?
I was accelerating up a fairly steep hill and suddenly the engine was dead in a split second. managed to pull to near side of road and quickly put hazards on. Pressed starter button and car was simply cranking somewhat endlessly! Waited ...
