Auto climate control doesn't seem to regulate automatically properly?

Check your gas level - unless the temperature is OK?
You can also set the 'force' by pressing the auto control. There are 3 options from gentle to windy depending upon how many times you press the control. Mine cycles through the modes each time I press it.
You also have a 'heat recovery' system which pulls warm air in for a few seconds before calming down. More apparent in colder days. It helps demist the car. It's all in the handbook.
