High battery drain message after fitting new battery.
Hi, over the past few weeks our 57 plate 3.0d has had the funny clock with 000's come up in the morning and sometimes we have had to reset the time.
This morning the wife had trouble starting the car and as I was away from home I sent her up to Halfords with my trade card to get an new AGM battery fitted.
They re-coded the new battery but afterwards we have had a couple of high battery drain messages come up since.
Just wondered if anyone has any ideas?.
I do have a BMW scanner at home and DIS so I will check for codes when I get back just incase it was related to just the time when the battery's were being swapped.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Short journeys? Using the radio etc without the engine? These cars will only run for about 20 mins without the engine before warnings come up.
Probably worth putting the battery on charge and then monitoring the situation. If the battery gets low it takes a long time to come back up as the onboard electronics use a lot of power (60A+ on my X6!) so the alternator has to run the car and charge the battery.
Might just be a bad battery..
I now use a CTEK MXS10 conditioner to keep mine good as it is only doing short runs a lot of the time. I do take it to work (30 miles) about one week in six to keep the DPF clearer too. They get killed by short journeys!

Re: High battery drain message after fitting new battery.
Thanks for your reply, we have had the car nearly 3 years and the wife does a mixture of short journeys but I use the car when I am on nights to give it a good run on the motorway.
We had the same engine in our 3 series so I know the niggles that affect the DPF regen cycle, changed both stats when I first got the car and touch wood the car still keeps going into a regen cycle and has low DPF pressures even though it has 150k on the clock.
Going back to the high battery drain message we never had it before the new battery was fitted.
I will have to monitor it just incase the fault was logged when they swapped the battery's over yesterday.

New battery could be flat, or low charge state if it's been in store for a while?

As it was only fitted yesterday I think I need to monitor it and see how it goes.
You could be right it may have been sat on the shelf a while at Halfords, they probably don't sell many AGM battery's.

Just an update, so far this message has stopped coming up so the car has either learnt the new battery or charged it to the right level.

Any updates after a month later
I'm having similar issues and hoping it needs a decent charge or learn process!
