Fault code
Re: Fault code
If yours is a diesel car, then that error code points at the Diesel Particulate Filter according to on line checks. Any errors on the iDrive?
Normally it should regen automatically every 300 miles or so. If it won't then you need a 'forced regen' which can be done by a dealer, or specialist. If that doesn't work then it's time for a new one.
Short journeys are a killer for these parts as the whole system needs to get very hot to burn off the soot. This leaves ash behind and once the ash percentage hits a critical weight then you can only replace.
The bad news is BMW want £1,500 plus VAT & fitting. No idea how much a non-OEM might be, but quite likely a lot cheaper.

Re: Fault code
Hi
Mine is diesel I have been doing a forced regen and I can clear the soot back to nearly 0% but the ash is going up all the time it is at 44.65% at the moment and I drive to france every six weeks so don't think short trips is a problem
Can you have the dpf washed out ??

Re: Fault code
Not certain. I suspect the only way is likely to need removal from the car and careful extraction in order not to damage the DPF matrix.
