E70 steering wheel angle sensor

Post by graemeX5 » Thu Jan 26, 2017 7:39 pm

Hi

I had the X5 E70 come up with a fault, an intermittent one DSC and Xdrive failure as advised to stop and switch off and restarted it cleared so continued home Saturday.

So I booked the car into BMW as have a warranty, and they have checked it today and said it was the Steering Wheel Angle Sensor needed reprogramming, which was not covered by the warranty.

I had the same issue on the old E53 and it was just a case of turning the wheel slowly lock to lock and back again and it reset.

My Question is:-
Can you fix the problem the same way on the E70 by turning the steering wheel lock to lock and back again.

BMW said it needed reprogramming, but didn't expand on the method. Anyhow after a brief conversation on the phone about the cost of £40 it was waived by them.

Just please to have it back.
Graeme
