Other similar reports of blue screens on line with various BMW models tend to point at the camera itself having died and needing to be replaced.

My screen just went blank this morning , when I started it up the camera worked then as I moved of it went off to leave nothing ,couldn't adjust radio which was on or any I drive functions , after a stop and restarted down the road its back on again thankfully , I think mine is battery related as the radio goes of as soon as the engine is stopped at times.

Sounds like battery. I’ve occasionally had the radio fail to start properly. On the X6 it can be fixed by forcing a restart of the idrive itself. This is achieved by holding the power button in until the screen goes blank. Always seems to work at the moment, but I ibis my battery is getting weaker as it ages.
For later model idrive the reset sequence is the same, but holding it for long enough to do up to three screen restarts may need doing. The third is called the ‘hard reset’ and needs the power button holding in for longer. It works on idrive 8 and newer - and may apply to some earlier ones as well.

I just have menu button and the dial its the earlier 2009 system but get warnings for pdc not booting up too so probaly battery voltage related as pdc is working.

I think you're right I have been away for 2 months and the battery was dead. It was initially working, will have to check today if I am still having the issue.

BMWs do have a system if shedding ‘loads’ if the battery is low, and that may include the cameras I suppose. On mine it just shuts the radio off. Different versions do different things and I know from comments on the i4 forums that a dead 12V battery causes all kinds of odd things and mayhem until the h.v battery recharges it.
Perhaps the first question for us to ask ourselves is “what’s the 12V battery voltage?” The standard mantra for the E53 was to disconnect the battery for 30 minutes! Fixed all kinds of issues.

Does anyone know how to reboot idrive on the F15?

It’s the volume/off button that resets the system. Same works in the E71, i4, F46, so it will probably be the same in your F15. Just ‘press and hold’ for at least 30 secs - or when the display(s) go blank.
