BDC Issue??

Post by SeanG1 » Mon Nov 25, 2024 6:29 am

Advice Needed

Here’s my situation:

“Six months ago, I coded my iDrive to turn off when the driver’s door opens (post-ignition off). It worked perfectly. A few days ago, it suddenly stopped working. I checked the setting in Bimmercode, and it showed as Active. I tried toggling it off and back to Active again, but it’s still not working.”

Since then:

I reset the BDC to default using the Recovery option in Bimmercode and then recoded a few settings in the BDC module. This did not fix the issue, but other changes I made are working fine.
In the latest Bimmercode update, I noticed a Low Battery Voltage warning. It showed 11.8V, but this didn’t seem to affect the coding process.
New Issue:
In the last 24 hours, driving the same route by coincidence, two separate times, I got these three warnings while driving:

Mobility Stabilization - drive moderately
Pedestrian Collision Warning
Front Collision Warning
These warnings cleared after turning the ignition off.
Interestingly, these are the same warnings that typically appear during BDC module coding. Could this all be connected?

Any advice on diagnosing or fixing these issues would be greatly appreciated!

BDC Issue??

I know nothing about coding, but the battery voltage at 11.8v is low. My F25 started throwing strange electrical warnings when the battery voltage dropped below 12v. New battery solved it all.

Your battery should be at least 12.4 to 12.6V. Any lower and things may not work correctly. BMW systems have a ‘load shedding’ function that disconnects modules to ensure starting works. It might just be possible that coding didn’t ‘take’ if the battery was low. Try recovering it back to factory with a fully charged battery and try again with the car connected to a good charger.

Very few on here currently have played with coding unless it’s something simple. Too easy to brick something!

At least you can code that model. The latest BMWs have encrypted systems and the ‘unlock’ code only comes from BMW servers in Germany. They really really don’t want people playing. Even BimmerUtility can’t get past the locks.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
