Winter wheels

Post by Simond S » Wed Oct 31, 2012 8:52 am

I have swapped my old winter tyres onto the X6. (I accept they are M&S not winter tread, but I like them and they are brilliant in snow)

Being a sensible type person I have 285 width tyres that on the last three Toauregs and the RR before that looked quite beefy.

On the X6 they look like pram wheels, especially the rears.

So, anyone know of a spacer that will fit the X6 rear axle to take a X5 wheel.

You don't need X5 wheels - though if you did get some you would also need hub rings on the rear to bring them down to X6 hub size (same size front hubs).
I got a set of starspoke 232s for my X6 40d which are themselves stepped.  See different sets on http://www.bmw-wintertyres.com/iris/bmwwcw?page=wcw&market=00006-UK&lang=EN:

I have a spiggot ring on the rears to marry the X% rim to the X6 axle. I'd like out move the wheels out a little without needing a wider tyre. Hence the thought of a spacer.
