Egr cleaned

I decided to clean the EGR valve as the coolant wouldn't go over 85.

After I cleaned it and put it back together  I get 'Emissions high' message.

I used carly app to diagnose the fault and it comes up with Exhaust Gas Recirculation.

I've checked the hose on the valve and the electronic plug which was clean.

I can turn the error of and it doesn't come back until I turn the car off and then when I restart it a couple of minutes later the warning on the idrive comes back and the engine management light turns on.

Any ideas chaps?

What did you use to clean it?

The only thing that springs to mind is the spindle has a plate the size of a 10p piece that has been known to come unseated/loose.

I cleaned mine and had the same issue, ended up changing 'the egr solenoid' as the garage put it!

Sorted!!!! One of the pipes had come of from the engine.

Now to see if I can hit the correct  temp for DPF regeneration

Well after all that the coolant I'd still not getting high enough.
I can get it to over 85 driving in town but on the motorway it's between 67 and 75.
