Loving my recently acquired 2007 X5 and only have one problem. The rear entertainment system won't read any DVDs but will happily play CDs.

All DVDs come up with a read error. They all play perfectly n home systems and they are region 2 originals, not copies.

Tried running a cleaning disc through it but problem persists.

Any ideas or common issues I should know about? Is there a fix?

Probably a laser issue with the focus as it needs to be a much smaller beam than a CD uses.  If a cleaner doesn’t work then it might need repair.

Many film DVDs now are dual layer which means the beam must focus correctly.
