Hi guys,
I have had to replace a missing remote control for the rear entertainment system on my x5 - sorry for a stupid question but will this need to be paired / sync by a dealer or is there anything that can be done to get it to work?
Cheers

rear entertainment remote control
Re: rear entertainment remote control
As long as it is infra red and the same version, there should be no problem.

Re: rear entertainment remote control
Hmm that’s what I thought but no joy. I must have duff or wrong remote then, are there different part numbers for the remotes? It’s certainly the old type I have which is fairly box like with the rocker switch to flick headphone speaker volume left and right.

Should be this one....

(Had to pick a year but no From....To.... date range is shown). That part number runs from 2006 to 2013 though.
You could have a dead IR receiver photodiode in the TV unit if the remote is working. Some night vision cameras (CCTV/webcams) can see the remote LED flickering.

Re: rear entertainment remote control
Very helpful thanks for the reply
the headphones work ok on infrared so I assume they would share the same ir receiver so must be the remote?
Might have to say to the kids to give up on the remote dream!

Re: rear entertainment remote control
Headphones use an IR transmitter on the main unit and a receiver on the headset.
