Hello my name is Lee and i own a 2009 3.0d x5
Sorry i am new to all of this so if i get it wrong please let me know and bear with this silly old git.
My 2009 x5 cut out 2 weeks ago i had a bloke come down and put his machine on it and it said fuel pump gone. Replaced the in tank pump and after 40 mins or so started lots of white smoke which cleared. 2 days later cut out again told this time hp pump needed changing done this still no enjoy. Put the machine on again saying no pressure to the rail. Is reading 6 instead of 480
Changed the sensors on the rail and still dead.  Any ideas before i set the old gril on fire.  Thanks very much for any help putting my hair out here and ive not got much left

Sounds strange....were the fuel pumps genuine BMW??

Fuel pump relay? Had one go on my old E39 and showed the same issues as a pump.

Hi gents thanks for coming back to me yes its a genuine bmw pump and i dont have a relay on the e70 its has small box with 2 conectors coming out. Spoke to my mechanic and he thought is an injector.  Told me to remove the leak return conector and turn the engine ove r and 1 of the injectors should be spitting out more fuel than the rest and thats the one gone?  Trouble i have now is no fuel coming out of the injectors at all none of them ?  I do have a small amount coming out of the return pipes.  Any help would be great im at a loss now

Can you hear the pumps running?  Sounds like a pump issue if almost no fuel pressure, but it could be a blockage in the filter.

FYI - The Pump Control relay is usually on top of the fusebox in the front (glovebox area).

What error codes are being logged?  Best to use something that reads the BMW codes correctly, not a ‘generic’ device.

Is all of the wiring intact around the injectors?  Broken or intermittent wiring, dirty connectors can cause an issue.

Is the fuel filter clean - (garages often fail to change them as customers won’t notice)?

Thanks very much for your reply ill go and see if i can find this relay now fingers crossed. Sorry i dont have the dinostics in front of me for codes but the bloke said no pressure  on the rail so not sure whats going on cant afford any big bills at the mo which is why im trying everything i can first.

Also have a look at newtis dot info on line.  Copy of the BMW service manual that dealers use.  You have an E70 and this manual covers beyond 2009 so you should find some help.

What is your location ?.
Maybe a member on hear is local to you and could do a bmw specific code scan for you.
