I have not had the rear shoes adjusted since I have had the car would low rear shoes cause the park brake failure or is it going to be the control module under the car ?

Can you hear the motor unit underneath working at all?
Worth checking for a blown fuse first, but after that it could be the motor drive itself. It’s a common failure, often being the gear inside stripping. You can diy as long as you can get the bits, and it does have to come off the car.
Might be worth trying this too.....

Main dealers want an obscene amount to change them.....£1k isn’t unusual.

Hi yes I can here the motor working I have had the park brake reset by someone with a proper diagnostic tool and the hand brake is working ok now but for how long I don’t know ? So I know my battery is playing up so I will be changing that and also as the park brake shoes have not been adjusted for 3 years / 40000 miles I will be renewing them as well ,and to be on the safe side I have ordered a new motor for the park brake activator.
