Hope this isn't a stupid question but, I have a 2007 X5 E70 4.8 M Sport which I guess is not that important to question. I don't or very very rarely use the Sat Nav. Does the disc always need to be inserted in the drive or can I eject it and only insert it when I need it ? Even when car shut down the drive seems to be working all the time and making strange noises, this must be causing a drain on the battery surely. Any advice would be more than welcome. Thanks.

It needs to be in, if ejected it will have to reload every time you re-insert, which takes time, it only makes whirring noises until the car goes to sleep usually after 16 mintues.
