Cheap Angel Eyes

Post by Simond S » Tue Apr 23, 2013 10:34 pm

My car came with the yellow angel eyes. I didn't realise just how yellow till I got the 3 series with nice bright white rings.

A quick bulb change and I am a lot crisper for £12.99!

Very very happy with the result. Bulbs are 4750 cosmos blue white bought from eBay.

Nice upgrade, do you know if these will fit the E53 facelift and if so can you provide a link to them on the bay please.

These are the bulbs http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271133011795? ... 1497.l2649

Yes,  I just swapped the bulbs but the difference is amazing. tbh I'm not sure why people are charging so much for them, am I missing something?

As an example, these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H8-20W-CREE-B ... 473bc  state they are H8 but at £60?

LOL!
Fun and games at Snipez' house yesterday trying to get an assortment of bulbs fitted to my car with little success. Tried to put some GP Thunders in from the packet, only for them to look surprisingly yellow. In fact, exactly yellow like the originals....

....because they were the originals! snipez had sold his 40d with the GPs in and put the originals in the GP packaging! It was worth the swearing and scraped knuckles trying to get the blasted things in/out for the laugh! :)

Anyway, nice seeing you again and meeting your lovely family.

Looks good. A daytime shot would be very useful, if you'd kindly oblige.

Just ordered a set for mine as the LEDs are out of my budget for a while.  The price difference is simply between a blue filter coated standard tungsten bulb (cheap) and a high power LED chip (very expensive to make and needs cooling and error correction & noise cancellation circuitry - LEDs produce radio noise - etc)

Too much knowledge going on there, do you work for NASA or something with the info you know?

Nope - but I am an electronics engineer who is also trained in telecommunications & radio systems (inc design, installation and testing), and mechanical engineering with a bit of IT on the side.  I'm also in the upper age percentile for this group  :'(

Old in 535dboy's parlance...... :P

I also probably qualify as both a Nerd and Geek..... :))

Mine arrived this morning - not bad considering I only ordered them yesterday and apart from the scrapes trying to get at the blasted things, I'm very impressed.  For £14 delivered they're a real improvement over the OEM options.  They go a bit 'yellow' once the headlights are on because the rings are dimmed, but otherwise the colour is great.  Well pleased and well done Finlonga  :ok:

I'll get some piccies up later in daylight.
