Re: Goodbye
As I understand it Australia is an expensive place to live all over, so I am not going with any silly better life less hours more money dreams :D Car wise BMW(any of them) is an import and very expensive - my X would have sold for £16k plus over there but here I got £9k. Job comes wit ...

Re: Goodbye
Off to Oz. Think you may have misunderstood Sanj, I meant the car was not worry or trouble free, I had various issues with door handles, bearings, track rods and air suspension the main bug bears, although I did manage 50k in 2 years :driving: so I guess it would be unlikely to get nothing seeing as ...

Goodbye
Sold the X last Friday, reluctantly, due to impending emigration. I really enjoyed the car although ownership was hardly worry and trouble free! I hope the new owner enjoys it and finds this forum.
Thanks to those who provided advice on here when I needed it.
Bye

Re: 3.0 Petrol MPG
20 -21 average on the computer for me lots of mileage and varied driving. Mine is lpg converted though so probably around 32+ equivalent and 40+ on a run. As a side note I am currently using a brand new s350CDI merc and it averages 37+ and over 45 on a run and its fast - really fast. Goes to show ...

Re: DSC Light issues
I take it all back, Bazooki ditchdiggers is right :headbang: it rained for the first time this weekend since fitting the chinese rubber, and the DSC light was having a field day. Decided to return and swapped for 2 part worn Nexen - had those on before and so far so good. Not vague and no DSC light ...

Re: Door Pins.
I had this on rear passenger side - mechanic fixed quickly though whilst doing other jobs. Now front one the same since I had actuator replaced needs to go back!

Re: DSC Light issues
The tyres are rotalla - very good reviews of them online, certainly no death warnings such as those for Fullrun. Perhaps it is those? I am not doing 70 round any roundabouts, just on really big long turns joining motorways - not driving any quicker than I used to but the car does not like something ...

Re: DSC Light issues
Thanks for the suggestions I assume having done it twice that they have tightened everything up. Yes 4 wheel alignment but they could not adjust rear toe in etc only camber. I think the guy putting the new tyres on said he was going for 36psi (they are 22's) perhaps I should drop those to 32?? Will ...

Re: Help!!! 4.8is self levelling suspension inactive.
Suspension on these things is a mare! :headbang: I only have the 3.0 so only have rear air susp. half the problems and cheaper parts (control unit about 1/6th cost of those for 4 wheel air susp.) but even so my recent problems were a real PITA. I sourced some second hand spares and 2 new sensors to ...

DSC Light issues
Had my tracking and alignment adusted last weekend only to discover 2 rear tyres were heavily worn again on inside edge. Had 2 new budget tyres fitted on Monday and then did not use the car as I was away. On Wednesday I had a 300 mile round trip and felt the car was very vague and floaty at higher ...

Re: X5 3.0i or 3.0d?
My 3.0i will do around 19 on normal commute, mix of driving. I know diesel is not great around town but picks up on a good run over petrol. Only other comment would be on insurance and anythiing over 4.0 needed a tracker wherever I looked so I bought the 3.0 as the costs of tracker really add up ...

Re: What oil?
Been down the national tyres route twice and paid around 35 quid. No problems at all but mentioned it on here on different topic and suddenly felt like a cheapskate cause it seemed others would rather pay more to get dirty and do it themselves rather than let anyone other than am indy or dealer ...

Re: 2 little annoying problems
Cant help too much but my rear would not pop down even though it was locking but it was opening though!- my mechanic sorted that quickly enough My front door has to be done manually - car needed new actuator but I have a deeper electrical issue which means its still not sorted. Will the door unlock ...
