surprised you need tyres; i got 30k out of my first set

I paid 660 quid last year. For named component. Didn't really see the point if the comprehensive. Most of the really expensive stuff was covered under named component.

on all of my 3.0i (I have had three, two E53s and an E70) consumption came in around 22mpg average over the lifetime. The E70 was slightly better, but nowhere near the claimed 25.9 of BMW. I had two in 45,000 miles. Both tyres were toast.

I remember having different tyres on the rear axle of my 3-series 15 years ago - turned it into a pig in the wet, since then I've always had matched tyres on any axle.
