Andrive?

Hi, I made a big mistake in putting in Andrive in a OEM Satnav system, involving rewiring the entire amp with a 6m copper cable running to the rear. Only after I installed it did I realise that andrive was absolute shite and I've never used it since. So the question is, where do I go from here? I wa...

Re: Smoke coming from front and back!

Thanks for the reply. I think I have the M62TUB44 engine as its registered 2001, so pre-facelift? I've also done a fair bit of reading about the dreaded valve stem seals and I'm fairly confident that its not got the symptoms. It only kicks out smoke on a cold start and later from the nearside engine...

Smoke coming from front and back!

Hi all, Yet another problem to add to the list. I recently had the car serviced and the valve cover gaskets replaced at the same time due to an oil leak. The mechanic said that it also has another leak which would be much more involved to fix but will be fine leaving (didn't say where from). It stil...

Re: n62 4.4i misfire

Oh thanks, not outragous I suppose for an engine of its size. My friend has just paid 3200 for a 2L diesel 3 series reconditioned engine.

If I replace that I doubt there are any origional parts left! Good luck finding your problem.

I had to do this just a few months ago. All the hoses and the seperator exactly as you said. Makes me wonder why they make them of this perishable rubber when its obviously going to fail. Good luck finishing the job off.

Re: n62 4.4i misfire

I've got the same problem which I'm hoping is the valve cover gaskget, but as you've changed the engine I cant be of much help!

Would you mind me asking roughly how much you found a recon engine for incase I get further problems?

Re: Wheel judder and violent vibrations. Help!!!!

I had this problem but at different speeds. Violent shudder between 60-70mph, nothing either side. It turned out to be about 3-4mm play in on of the track rods. I did replace the bushes at the same time, but if yours are nearly new maybe it could be a track rod.

Re: What spins in drive and stops in park? Loud noise

I'm not entirely sure. I presume they had to replace as he initially said he might be able to repair it himself. After he found bits of it had damaged the gearbox, he told me a full recon would be necessary. This is the link to their website which says what they do: http://suffolktransmissions.co.uk...

Re: Can anyone ideantify what is leaking and can I use Radweld?

Thats interesting. Given it came back from the garage yesterday where its just had a recon gearbox fitted could this be related? I think I might give them a call in the morning! Thanks, I wouldn't have linked it with the gearbox at all, didn't even know the coolant system was linked to that.

Re: ANDRIVE gone under.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. Biggest mistake I ever made buying that thing. What a waste of money, I've never done a car jouney long enough for it to fully boot up and start to work!

Re: What spins in drive and stops in park? Loud noise UPDATE

Just incase anyone stumbles across this thread in the future I thought I'd post an update. It was indeed the torque converter which had failed, broken up and fallen into the gearbox, thus destroying that also. Reconditioned gearbox needed unfortunatly. May I recommend Suffolk Automatic Transmittions...

Can anyone ideantify what is leaking and can I use Radweld?

Hi all, 2001 E53 X5 leaking coolant AGAIN! This time from whatever is in the picture. Its the connection between the radiator and whatever the silver box is in the picture. Having spent £2500 yesterday reconditioning the gearbox and replacing the bushes I'm not looking forward to what this will cost...
