Yes, genuine part bought on eBay from a BMW dealer in Atlanta USA. The part and fitting cost about £200 but I don’t know if you’ll get the part as cheap as that now. Have a search on eBay.

Replace it yourself, it’s what I did when they declared mine to be in working order. It’s the only way you’re going to have peace of mind.

When they didn’t change mine under the previous quality enhancement check, I bought the correct part and fitted it. I’d have sent you to B&M as I think they’re excellent but if you’ve had a bad experience there then I’ve also used Deutschtek off of Woodlands Rd in Glasgow and found them good.

It only comes as one part, complete propshaft.

You’ll get the letter, it’s seems to be getting sent to everyone who didn’t get a replacement driveshaft.

We’re all getting the recall letters now, useless state of affairs from BMW over this issue.  I replaced mine after the QE check stated there was no issue with mine but I wasn’t prepared to take the risk. It only takes an hours labour to change the shaft.  2 hours should easily cover it.

If you click on the 866 part number it opens another page which shows you that it superseded the 649 part.

My car has been examined now, no movement, no rust so not replaced.
