E70 LCI M Sport rear bumper

Evening all, Having sold my X5 before Xmas and with little prospect of having another, I am having a bit of a clear out. I have a Monaco Blue M Sport rear bumper and the plastic rear quarter panels to match for sale. I was going to fit this to a pre-LCI E70 as it will fit either. The black centre gr...

Re: Steering wobble under braking.

My money would be on a buckled wheel or warped brake discs.

Re: Has anyone removed and replaced their centre console aluminium trim?

Hi Matt,

I have replied to your mail this evening. TIS is BMW's Technical Information Service. You should be able to buy a copy of it on DVD off eBay. It's very good info and will talk you through almost screw by screw on how to do pretty much whatever you need to do.

Re: Has anyone removed and replaced their centre console aluminium trim?

The aluminium trim seems particularly susceptible to dents as our X5 had several pieces with damage on the centre console. I replaced them and it was a bit time consuming but with TIS to guide me it wasn't difficult. I took the good ones back off before we sold the car so if you do buy the car, drop...

Re: Can facelift sport bumpers be fitted to a non facelift se?

You should be able to fit a pre-facelift sport bumper (and wheel arches) but you won't be able to fut a facelift front bumper without changing the wings too.

Re: center arm rest-console

It's a pretty arduous job as it had to do it just before I sold mine. The best advice I can give you is to get a copy of TIS off eBay. That will give the procedures to do it with pics. Good luck.

Re: Car due "vehicle check" in the next few weeks.

Regarding the battery. Go on a long run or get it charged as soon as you can. I used to get this on mine a lot becuase the car did lots of short runs and stood for days without use. Eventually, the battery gave out and we had to use a car and a boost pack to get it started!! I left mine on constant ...

Re: winter tyres and insurance company

In the topsy turvy world of the UK, an insurance company would no doubt argue that having winter tyres fitted to your car would mean you are more likely to go out in adverse weather  ::)

Re: Auto box shifter noise

I had a problem with a shifter some time ago but the trim mechansim had collapsed making the selection of reverse physically difficult. My issue was not the same as yours but to me it sounds like a solenoid not engaging properly. I suspect your selector is faulty in which case it will need replacing...

Re: Occasional Gear Problem selecting D or R from P

How odd, my 57 plate E70 throws a shit fit if you try to move it with a door open. It will let ou select D or R but puts it straight backin to park.

Re: Occasional Gear Problem selecting D or R from P

Is one of the doors open when you do it? The car will not let you shift from park,if one if the doors is open. It will bong at you and show a yellow car on the dash with a left and right arrow.

Re: Aftermarket wheel spacers

Thanks for the reply. I suspect 20s would protrude outside the standard SE bodywork without the extensions.

Aftermarket wheel spacers

Evening all, My X5 has the dynamic pack on it with style 213 19s. I am considering upgrading to 20s for next summer with the arch extensions but the offset on the style 213s is quite high so they will look pants with the wheel arch extensions. I see I have two choices, buy M-Sport 19s or use wheel s...
One last question..... Is a 57 plate pre LCI? I will go and hide now before I get flamed for not googling....
LCI = Life Cycle Impulse - BMW speak for mid life facelift  ;) As X5Sport has said, a 57 is pre-facelift although there are a fair number of 10 plate car...
