I normally change my gearbox and differential oils every Inspection 2 .
It cost's another @ £300 , but I find with older/high mileage cars it's
worth the extra cost , especially the gearbox .

Re: High mileage issues???
I assume its a 3.0d ? I've got an E39 with same engine , was re-mapped from new to 238PS and now covered 225,000kms , and it's still sweet as a nut . The problem with blown turbo's is that owners forget to let the engine idle for a couple of minutes after a long/fast/hard journey , and just switch s...

Re: iPOD Connection
Depending if you want to have all the original stuff working , there is this new product available which they say , unlike other ones , will allow you to keep the factory cd-charger as well as the other kit . It's priced around £110 and looks from what I've read to be nice kit . Their website is ; ...

Re: Battery Draining overnight
I've got a problem with my '05 3.0d , where it always seems as if the battery is running low , because when you start , it's not a 'clean' turnover , it's sluggish , but I've had it tested at 2 dealers , and they both say that there is nothing wrong . However , I know it's not right because my E39 3...

Re: New Rubber for Winter
Just for info , mine is running 17'' ContiSport Winter Contacts which are very good . I also run them on my Alpina and Schnitzer Tourings . And I've a friend with an E53 in Oslo and he uses Yokahamas and says they're brilliant . And I know that over here the Pirelli Scorpion is quite highly rated to...

At Tiffany's jewelery
A woman walks into Tiffany's. She looks around, spots a beautiful diamond bracelet and walks over to inspect it. As she bends over to look more closely, she unexpectedly farts. Very embarrassed, she looks around nervously to see if anyone noticed her little pweeeeep and prays that a salesperson was...

Re: Debate (no not Masturbate Mogs!) - why did you buy the X
When X5 first came out , I was in market for new company car , and it was toss between E39 Touring or X5 . I wanted E39 , Missus wanted X5 , but I over-ruled her and I went for the E39 coz the boot was bigger/better shaped etc . When the E53 facelift was announced , I was again looking and it ended ...

Re: BMW Air Con Info
I've had problems with A/C on both my E36 and E39 , and after having them re-gassed and serviced , both the specialist and an Independant told me that you should run A/C for at least 15 mins 3 times a week even through Winter . I know a couple of people who even leave theirs on 24/7 365 days a year ...

Re: Swap 'bus' style to Sport steering wheel
Here in Lux we don't have 'normal' and SE's . There is just one base model , to which you add as many extras as you can afford . However , the standard equipement level is generally high , prob in between a standard and SE model in UK . The car I have is an '05 Facelift and the steering wheel is the...

Battery/starting problem
I have a prob on my '05 3.0d . When starting , it turns over really slowly , almost as if the battery is flat and about to die . I took it to the Concessionaire here , and they tested it and told me that the battery is fine and that there is no fault coming back from any of the starting system . How...

Swap 'bus' style to Sport steering wheel
I have the big multi-function steering wheel fitted to my '05 3.0d , and I'd
like to upgrade it to a Sport version .
Is it an easy thing to do ? And how much should I pay for a 2/Hand wheel ?
Cheers in advance

Re: Introduce yourself
Hi and welcome , I'm originally from Wolverhampton and had family in Kinver , so not far from you . I've had my E53 '05 3.0d for just 6 weeks and must say I like it . Did Lux to Devon at average 40.3mpg on the OBC , and Devon to Wolves at ave. 38.7mpg . Well impressed , that's better than my E39 , a...
