Hidden/special features - codable features
Hi guyz, After 13 years with an E53 3.0d, I just bought a 2012 E70 3.0d, so I'm not really familiar with all things. I'm looking to find out if there are any hidden/special features on the car, and also what things can be re-coded to make it more pleasant. Could anybody give me a list of things I ca...

Re: Electrics? problem on 3.0d
I did wonder about that thxvm.
However, in Lux we actually have NO breakers yards at all, so looks like I'll be going to Germany as I live on that side

Electrics? problem on 3.0d
Hi peeps, long time no hear from me. My 3.0d is now nearly at KM 300k but I've been having a few probs last weeks; The speedo and MPG meter, plus trip and total KM's stop working intermittently. There is no rhyme or reason for when they stop, just happens. Sometimes it comes back working for couple ...

Re: E53 or E70, which one?
If it’s a 40d with the 8sp box then you should have 600Nm on tap already. I think the box can take a maximum 700Nm. ECUs have to be removed from the car to be remapped due to the way BMW have locked them, but Jason can advise if you send him a PM :)
It's the sin...

Re: E53 or E70, which one?
Replying to agree with dgms's points - do it! You might find the E70s a bit underpowered compared to your E53. I did when I moved from my mapped E53 even to the 40d...although m/s mode is fun ;) Also to add, wow that's strong money for a high mileage E53! I think UK prices ...

E53 or E70, which one?
I'm in a position where someone wants to buy my E53 3.0d and I have a choice of 2 E70 3.0d's with 245PS and I'm in dilemma as to whether to change. We've had the E53 nearly 10 years, re-mapped it when bought it to 272PS / 525NM and done 275,000KM of untroubled time in it, but it's still a great car ...

BM Euroservice changed the gearbox oil on my 3.0d twice and never had any problems, go to them.

Not sure how close it is to you, but there's a BMW Indy in Maidstone I've heard good reports about.
Bad news I can't remember their name immediately :'(

Re: 2004 E53 3.0d Auto - over 45mpg no remap
I've got 2006 with 250,000KM, been re-mapped since 80,000KM when I bought it and I get generally 26-28 MPG on the 'school/shopping' run etc, and on a motorway run at 140-150 KMH 37-39 MPG.
Best I've ever had was 43 MPG, but I do occasionally get just over 40 MPG.
