Re: RFT TYRES , a cheaper alternative ?

Hi, I have read much  about the potential transmission issues if non BMW aproved tyres are used. I am not an engineer or a mathematician............. Re: Potentially consdering Pre LCI E70 - as yet undecided.

Hi, RE run flats...............just hang on in there one moment. If you have 19" you have a much wider choice of tyres in RFT. They are almost on par with normals. With 20" if you shop around you can get them for under £1000 and sometimes for under £900 ( Dunlop spotr maxx ) for a set of 4...

Re: BMW Dealership vs BMW Specialist

Specialist every time.................. I have owned BMW's since the late 80's and I have yet to find a main dealer that does what it says on the tin. Certainly in the SE I have yet to find one that can do things right first time every time. Like hens teeth I don't believe they exist. Also main deal...

Re: Considering an E70

Hi, I have had both  4.8Is and 40d...........( as well as 3.0 & 4.4 ). Much as i love a V8 and am a huge fan of everything V8 powered, I have to admit that the 40d is a stonking car and the twin turbo diesel is very well suited to the X5. I have a E70 40d SE...... As per the previous advice, com...

RFT TYRES , a cheaper alternative ?

Hello all, I know tyres have been discussed at length , but .......... New set of tyres ..........£1010 I am not suggesting anything is going on but its odd how all the RFT tyres are priced within a few pounds of each other..........mmmm. Anyway , I think they are way too expensive and never seem to...

3.0 i Radio help please.

I have a 2003 (53 ) plate 3.0i. My dashboard has the full widescreen nav unit. The radio works but I only have sound out of the front left speaker. Same when the nav gives instruction. I  suspect it is the radio output channels that have failed. My question is , where is the radio ? Is it the whole ...

Re: E53 Facelift 3.0d...Any good in snow / mud

In Short................YES  but its ALL about the right Tyres. E53 on winter tyres is awesome in snow............ Would you play football well in the wet with your loafers on ? No .................but change the loafers for some adidas predator and its a different performance. Same applies to your ...

Re: 4.8 v8..........more or less reliable than 4.4?

I have run both and to keep it short and sweet the 4.4 never missed a beat and I sold it for a  4.8  that was the worst car I have ever had. I had it 3 years and spent over 20 K on it . Lucky for me most of it under warranty .  That air suspension is crap, ( replaced twice ) constantly punctures its...

Re: E70 ignorance

I have an SE . You are correct that only SE models can have the aluminium running boards. M sport cars  have a sill cover that doubles up as a sort of running board that looks like it has a strip of wet n dry stuck to the top of  it . Also M sport  has painted wheel arch extensions in body colour an...

Re: New windscreen time.............

I would have thought insurance companies would automatically adjust the premium to reflect the fact if there is a windscreen claim on certain makes of cars that the cost of windscreen replacement will be higher than if autoglass or auto windscreens do it. I have to say with my 5 series, I had the or...

Re: New windscreen time.............

2 Phone calls later and the answer was take your car to your BMW dealer and get them to replace the windscreen. You pay the excess of £150 and get them to call us and we will settle the balance.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear.

Re: New windscreen time.............

Just answered my own question. I have just spoken to  BMW, who  confirm that if the windscreen is replaced by a third party and there is a subsequent claim for paint /corrosion/trim/noise or water ingress they will NOT pay out on a warranty claim. Given the amount of sensitive electrics in that dash...

Re: Winter Tyre Info and Discussion Thread ( Keep related chat here please)

BMW did officially offer in their accessories catalogue style 214 alloy wheels,  the same 275 width up front and 315 rear in 20 inch as a winter set up, using Pirelli ice and snow tyres. It wasn't cheap and think it was £4500 at the time. So they must have tested them and surely they work and work w...
