Question for the Infotainment/Comms experts.
Hi, It might seem like a stupid question, so I hang my head in shame in advance just in case. One for the connectivity experts............... I don't remember where I read it, but can the E70 ( mine is a 2013 April car ) take apps ? If so , how does one do that please ? Id love to have waze on the ...

Re: E70 4.0d driver side rear view mirror help.
Hi, You think thats expensive.......? You wait till your rear view mirror goes south. To be fair I havent heard/seen any E70 internal rear view mirrors , but on the E39 the liquid runs and leaves a 2 tone mirror that doesnt work/dim , and its glaringly obvious its kaput. If you are really unlucky it...

Re: Taking the leap!! X5 4.6is or 4.8is?
Hi,
I think the 4.6iS is ubber reliable ............
The only down side to a 4.6 over a 4.4 or 4.8 as I remember was fuel consumption.
Its a personal choice , but I prefer the original style alloys the 4.6 came with , think they look better and dead easy to clean too.
Enjoy...........

Re: Rust on lower section of rear tailgate
Hi, Sadly I have found the same shocking levels of service with ALL the main dealers I have ever tried. None of them seems able to do the job properly. Thats why I have stopped using them altogether now my service pack has expired. Last time my car was in to a BMW main agent for a windscreen replac...

Re: Should I have specified surround view?
Its a YES from me............... I have it in the E70 and it is very handy. You can even see the front tyres poking out the wheel arches when you turn the wheel , so very accurate . I also have the front cameras........BMW were doing a deal at the time. I wouldn't bother with those. Used them twice ...

Hi,
That looks really nice. I love the look of the E53.
Does it have a tow bar ? You'll need one to hook up the petrol tanker...........
)
Drive it like you stole it...................great fun.

Re: Transfer Case Fault - E70 4.0d 2010
Question....................
You said " I am pretty sure its the transfer Box - there are a lot of posts on Xoutpost and its a well known problem on 2011/12 40d models.
What about 2013 models ? Do they have a different transfer box or was something else changed ?
Regards,
Nat.

Re: RFT TYRES , a cheaper alternative ?
Hi, You are refering to axle wind as it was known. I had a grand cherokee back in the day and on full lock / slow manovers you could feel a wheel " hop " as it unwound itself. I guess it makes for interesting engineering...........every time you turn the outside wheel will always travel fu...

Re: RFT TYRES , a cheaper alternative ?
Hi, Dug a bit further and spoke to the dealer I bought my car from and they said nothing about tyres. My hand book says that they suggest fitting certain recommended makes of tyres , but thats it. There is nothing specific with regards to failure of recommendations. However there is one section that...

Re: Taking the leap!! X5 4.6is or 4.8is?
Hi, Just to clarify.............the 4.8iS is a great car if you can get it to work all the time. The issue was mine didn't and I just got fed up with it as did my wife , going to the dealer every week , no courtesy cars etc etc . I sold it and the person who bought it was aware of all the issues / ...

Re: Taking the leap!! X5 4.6is or 4.8is?
Hi, My honest advice is NO don't do it. I had a 4.8iS that i ran for just over 3 years. In that time it had £25k worth of work. The list of issues was endless. When it works its a great car, but the problem is that's not very often. From memory ( as I sold it over 3 years ago ) Both front legs swapp...

Re: RFT TYRES , a cheaper alternative ?
Hi,
and one more thing.............
If it really is that important to use BMW aproved tyres why don't the dealers tell you when you take delivery of the car and the hand book make a big deal about it if transmission failure is that sensitive to tyre choice.
xx
