It is pretty much constantly running with auto a/c on and with15yrs/115k miles under it's belt it's done well really. Symptoms - would just suddenly stop working despite control panel still illu...

Re: Heater/ Blower Fan Stopped Working. (Location of FSR Unit?)

All the electronics on the front panel seem to be working okay, but no fan?? Question: All the posts I've looked at on YouTube are of left-hand drive X5 models, s...

E53 powered tailgate retrofit

I know you can fit a pair of springs to the upper tailgate struts to give you a cheap auto open. However, have just come across this retrofitted upper tailgate auto open AND close  :) on youtube:

https://youtu.be/4dlxrvMSH9E

anyone here fitted this? Would love to do the same if so...

Re: Upper tailgate latch bump-stop.....

Holy Thread Revival!  :)) Are there meant to be two bump stops then? One either side of the latch? I've always had just the one (LHS as you face open upper tailgate), which I replaced a few years back as it had failed (split). Just noticed it's split again as tailgate closes itself again almost imme...

Re: Anybody changed Brakes (pads and discs) recently?

Interesting thread. Had both front and rear pads replaced by local dealership last month/1500 miles ago. Took it easy the first few hundred miles but got to 'drive' the X5 properly to St Ives and back a couple of times. Fast A roads/roudabouts. Braking is totally inadequate if sudden or quick brakin...

Re: Sat Nav has totally disappeared from menu :(

Just to update (sorry for delay!) After having had my mkIV dvd unit checked by two separate places, both returning it with a full bill of health, I came across this guy... Baris at http://www.carphonics.co.uk/ . He's based in Enfield, so a short drive from Jn 25 of the M25. The great thing with Carp...

WANTED: E53 genuine boot load liner cover

In case anyone has a genuine E53 X5 full boot liner available, preferably new/as new, I would be interested. This type (obv. that's an E70 version but just to show the liner type I mean): http://i.ebayimg.com/t/BMW-Genuine-Boot-Trunk-Protector-Mat-Cover-E70-X5-51470416679-/00/s/OTczWDEyODA=/$(KGrHqZ...

Re: Sat Nav has totally disappeared from menu :(

Normal service miraculously resumed without touching/disconnecting anything else. If happens again then will replace the battery I think. Will get alternator checked too. Many thanks for replies/pointers

Re: Sat Nav has totally disappeared from menu :(

Thanks X5 ALN but the system has worked faultlessly since upgrade back in 2010 so doubt it is that. Sanj, was hoping the pulling fuse would take care of that. Royal pain pulling spare out etc. Worth a go suppose. Will have to wait until Friday night then. Even though starts a treat, I'm on my origin...
