Where is everybody?

Like most others here age is creeping up so that slows us all down a little :D The E53 is going strong though only used on sunny days now (had a silly offer from a guy at Goodwood last year so may even sell) My E70 I must say has been boringly reliable, Oh Oh shouldn't have said that, anyone now how...

Homelink built in remote

The E53 4.6is has Homelink and I tried for ages to get the car and door to communicate with no luck what so ever. BMW Dealer suggested the door has the wrong motor I interpreted that as "the door manufacturer got wrong not BMW" so just use a remote kept in the car. My E70 doesn't have the ...

Digital TV Retrofit

From memory (dangerous at my age) you need the TV tuner unit which lives under the floor near the battery with luck the wiring should be there already. Make sure the tuner is Digital/Hybrid unit you may need the help of someone with a BMW capable diagnostic system to get it working

Vredestein Quatrac Pro

I have Wintac Extreme (2nd set 4 years old about) on a set of 19" wheels for the E53 haven't needed them in sunny Sussex for probably 10 years (we haven't even had a really heavy frost let alone snow) but trips into France Skiing and Germany to see friends mean they are well used every year. I ...

Seething and downright angry

Had a very similar situation with Mercedes spoke to the Dealer Service Manager who asked me to email some pictures, no response more telephone calls with me becoming angrier and angrier and resending the original mail several times. Eventually after a confrontation in the showroom the Dealer explain...

ULEZ & WBAC.COM

I was under the impression that the ULEZ regs require Diesels to be Euro 6 compliant
I think the media have confused the issue by quoting 2015 or later BMW have been producing Euro 6 compliant diesels since 2012 as have many other manufacturers

Or has some thing changed I have missed something

"Windy Guns"

I used to use a steel erecting company that always used Milwaukie or Hilti guns they used to specify 200nm when buying new guns. On a site in Dartford we had several bolts (M16 and M20) sheared. I had the guns tested torque was set at 530nm so beware if tightening any thing with one of these Yes I h...

Bmw X5 50d TURBO REPLACEMENT AT 58K miles...WHY?

Blimey !! My garage hasn't got enough floor space for a job like that. As X5 Sport has pointed out all manufactures use a powertrain assembly line which is married complete to the body with little or no thought of service access, Range Rover Sports needing the engine dropped to fix turbo issue...

In case you missed it.

With the huge influx of low cost EV's predicted from China will the cost of shipping become prohibitive due to insurance and maybe the requirement for special shipping conditions being applied? The knock on of course is then Road/Rail transport of new/used vehicles. I couldn't take my LPG Dual Fuel ...
