Re: Switched Live

i removed the crappy non working bmw torch from the glove box and removed the guts from it then soldered the dash cam power supply wires straight the the torch terminals and ran the cable out the torch bulb hole. When plugged back into the charging point in the glove box you have a switched live pro...

How old are the front lower arms and track rods? Could be down to play in the suspension linkages causing movement.

Re: E53 shudder when cold, worse in gear.

Exact issues i had with the shuddering, but i had no dash warning lights. I ran a bottle of Millers Eco diesel injector cleaner through it and it disappeared within 3 tanks of treated fuel. Came back again a year later and another bottle of millers treatment sorted it. Been running the diesel treatm...

Re: tyre opinions please

I looked at the Toyo choices as mine are due replacement shortly, the only ones i could find that came up in correct sizes were the Toyo T1's. After looking at the cost they worked out around £85 cheaper a set than the Michelin Diamaris so i will be going with the Michelins to keep the Star rating a...

Re: I need a bit of advice on how to connect my dash cam to my e53 M62

I am in the process of fitting a Transcend 220 dash cam in mine at the moment. I am going the easy route and wiring a 12v plug socket to the glove box fitted flash light supply and running the wire in there where it will be left plugged in as the flash light power supply is an ignition live. Fuse bo...

Re: Thermostat fixed 3.0d - improved mpg

Noticed my MPG dropping off lately and thought it was just a result of my impatient/ over enthusiastic driving but have noticed temp gauge has dropped to 1/4 so mine is due a replacment! Just out of interest where did you purchase your new thermostat from? And if not direct from BMW do you know who ...

Re: auto locking

If you mean you have set it to auto lock the doors when travelling over 15mph which is what mine does and is annoying as hell, then i don't think it will automatically open them again when switching of ignition, well mine doesn't. Need to press the unlock button on centre console or do a double pull...

Re: Best egr valve bypass kit

What one did you go with in the end? The type that has the blanking plugs built in or the type where you have to remove the flexi recirc hose?

Re: Best egr valve bypass kit

There are plenty on flea bay to choose from and all pretty much in the same price range. Not sure what will make one piece of straight through metal pipe better that any other? As long as the one you choose has the correct blanking points included i don't think it will make any difference who actual...

Re: steering wheel wobble under braking 2004 E53 3.0D Auto

Im getting a crappy rumble noise from my near end of life tyres and slight vibration at certain motorway speeds so due a full replacement set. Just can't bring self to go non star rated due to the possibility of future problems and also my crap luck that it will cause me issues!

Re: The LURCH

Mine has had the "Lurch" for nearly two years, almost goes when new tyres fitted (* rated) and as they wear and the rolling circumference difference between front and rear increases it starts to get worse. New tyres due soon as the rear tyres have scrubbed out a bit quicker than the fronts...
