Goodbye X5

Well, the X5 is no more (with me that is).  Due to my moving into semi retirement I have swapped the X5 for more economical F31 320d touring with Xdrive.  Just need to find a decent F31 forum now. Also need to dispose of a set of nearly NEw staggered tyres.  Sold the car with the winters on. Will po...

Re: Advice please - x5 wheels (seized bolts - dealer liable?)

When I changed over to winter tyres last October, the garage striped one of the locking wheel nuts.  I went to the local bmw dealer with the intention of buying a new set.  After giving them a sob story as they had only recently replace all the brake pads they gave me a new set of locking studs foc.

Connect Drive Subscription

I have received a letter from BMW too say that my Connect Drive subscription runs out in the next few days.  They want £165 for a year.  Is it worth it?

Re: Iphone 6 S not pairing with Car

Thanks for the advice.  I have checked the on board software and it is up to date according to the latest version available from BMW website.  Also tried to update and it tells me it is already up to date.  Since upgrading to IOS 10.2 all other bluetooth issues with other devices seem to be sorted e...

Iphone 6 S not pairing with Car

I have a 2015 X5 30d Msport.  Until I updated my Iphone 6S to IOS 10 I had no problems pairing my phone to the car.  Since them I have had problems with the phone dropping out, poor transmission.  In addition, when I disconnect a call, the phone un pairs itself.  I have upgraded to the latest 10.2 b...

Re: Tyre Replacement

Hummm!  According to the blurb that came with my 2012 X5, drive is normally 60% rear and 40% front unless the X-Drive system calls for something else when the wheels start to lose grip.

Wheel Bolts - To Grease or Not to grease, that is the question

What is the wisdom on greasing wheel bolts, particularly locking variety.  The local tyre shop has just snapped one of my locking wheel nuts off.  Fortunately they managed to remove the broken bit.  Last year when I changed my winters over, the garage destroyed the lock key.  I guess there is either...

BMW extended warranty

My E70 is three years old this month and therefore runs out of warranty.  What is the general opinion of taking the BMW extended warranty.  It is not cheap at nearly £1400 for a year.

Re: Code x5

I have tried to get the Carly app from the App store but it keeps telling me that it is unavailable.  I managed to get the Lite version via the Carly website but still don't know where I can get the full app from.  Any tips?

Re: Tyre's Mixed or Not

I have just collect my 2012 X5 30D MSport from the local BMW dealer after a routine service.  The Service guy said that it needs two new front tyres.  I asked him if it was a problem with new tyres on the front and not new on the back since the tread depth will be different.  His answer was that as ...
