Pollen filter should be added to that list as I believe that's a service item on every service.
As the car is new to you, it might be a good idea to start with a completely clean slate and do all the transmission oils as well.

He doesn't have iDrive in an e53.

I didn't realise that sun tan cream was so virulent...........and that people were so careless with it.
You could probably get it mopped for around £150. If you're anywhere near Kent, a trip to KDS in Gillingham would be a good move.

One of my diesels did it, and ran fine, the other diesel didn't do it, and ran fine.

That's the single shot CD. Should just pop it in and it starts to play so I guess there's a problem with the mechanism.

BOSCH S4 is £104 from ECP and dead easy to fit. Takes about 15 minutes including a cuppa.

If you have an Intravee, with the latest firmware, you can set auto lock and unlock. The lock is at about 5 mph and the unlock can be set at a number of things. I used to have mine set to "auto box to park". I believe there was an option to have unlock when key removed, as well.
