Re: Smoke on startup from cold. 3.0 d facelift

No worries Just sold mine with 87k and after being sat for a while I would occasionally get the blue puff at startup but that is all. Mine was mapped too so did kick out some soot when given some. I only ever really heard the turbo when either the window or pan roof was open and by a hedge or simila...

Re: Liber-t tag for French Motorway Tolls.

The comfort screen on the E53 certainly stopped GPS signals and the only area not protected was by the mirror mount (visibly non protected area about 3" square? to the offside) but cannot comment re toll tags.

Completely normal. I wouldn't worry unless you get blue smoke at all times.
Is your X mapped? If so, this would explain the soot when on full bore.

Re: It's Time To Say Goodbye, But Not Farewell

Thank you all. Yes the fleet has been down sized. I still have the E92 330d coupe but sold my little French tin can works van as well and have a VW T5 which will do the job of both.  The X just spent it's life under a cover in the garage and I needed a larger van. It's a shame BMW don't do a 3.0d si...

Re: Road Deposits on Paintwork

I agree with the above in that I would wash the car first, then use a 'tar' remover followed by claying as graemeX5 describes (several places do a water lubricated bar now which is cheaper and just as easy to use with great results) then polish, re-wash, dry, glaze and finally wax.  Thereafter if yo...

It's Time To Say Goodbye, But Not Farewell

Hey there all I know I have been pretty much a ghost over the past year, but the time has come to say goodbye to the X5. With it sitting in the garage for most of the time and only having managed 1300 mile in the past year, it is being moved on to pastures new.  I'm sure the new owner will give the ...
