Thanks for the responses guys, I've had a proper look and I'm 100% sure it's not there.
I've ordered a genuine set of locking wheel nuts with key but they are slightly too big (1-2mm), it's the same pattern though. My worry is that the ones I have are not standard, what do you think?

One clarification, I meant windscreen washer jets. They seem to work fine now though...
I had to pick up my brother from the airport last night (30 minutes after the "Engine Failsafe" incident) so I drove it for about 180 miles and had no problem at all.

I should have clarified, by "dealer" I meant a trader, not a BMW main dealer.

I took it back to the dealer and they said it happened couple of times before because their cars are not being driven very frequently.
