Temp Sensor

Anyone ever had an issue with this? Car telling me it's 13.5 degrees C, when my 140 (sat next to it) says 5 degrees! X5 less 1.5 years old, so it'll be going back under warranty.

Re: Rear Bike rack for E53?

What are you planning on carrying (numbers, weight)? My experience of rear carriers is not great, and now only load bikes on the roof or on a tow ball mounted carrier. If neither of these are an option, the Saris Bones carriers are the most secure in my opinion, they should fit most cars. Sent from ...

Re: M Performance grilles fitted

About £110 if I remember right. Got them from a dealer via eBay - cheaper than going direct!

They went on easy, it's getting the old ones off that's a pain!

Re: Land rover discovery 3 2.7td

I owned a 3 and a 4. Both nice cars but nowhere near the X5. More capable off road, but the worst ours saw was a field, so irrelevant. 3's are showing their age inside. Our 4 was a lemon - 59 plate with 50k on the clock when we got rid, we'd had 2 new turbos and it was blowing oil seals far too regu...

Re: Reverse camera

Is the new bulb an LED? If so it won't be pulling enough current for the car to detect, it then throws an error. If it is an LED, you need to get a CANBUS error free version (cheap enough on eBay). If it isn't, I've no idea.

Is My Dealer Being a Dick?

I've just ordered a set of 20" alloys, valves, and centre caps from my dealer. BMW don't sell this style as a complete wheel/tyre package, so I ordered some star rated tyres from Black Circles. When trying to book a slot with the dealer to get the tyres fitted to the wheels and then the car the...

Re: Cleaning the engine bay

Whenever I've cleaned the engine and bay I've given it a light spray of degreaser (Gunk etc), a quick brush to loosen up the grime, and then used a pressure washer carefully.  I have the engine running whilst using the pressure washer and take care not to get too close to the alternator. Re: Tow bars and insurance companies

What he said, insurance is about taking your money and then finding a reason not to pay out in the event of a claim. I can't see an approved tow bar making any difference. My insurers weren't bothered I was using winter wheels/tyres as long as they were the same size as the originals. Sent from the ...

I'm a qualified freelance Mountain Leader, and agree with chubbs - map and compass all the way. My GPS is there as an emergency tool, and spends most of its life turned off.

Re: F15 Tyre Valves

I've had chance to check ours, and they don't look much different to yours! The thicker part of the valve may stick out from the rim a little, but nothing significant. So perhaps, as suggested, your aftermarket rims are a little thicker, and the valves are specifically for BMW rims. Perhaps you coul...

Re: F15 Tyre Valves

The ones you describe on the showroom cars are the TPMS valves that have a sensor in the wheel. We have those on ours and have no issues with airlines. It sounds like your vehicle isn't fitted with TPMS, but I've never known valve stems not being long enough to fit an airline to. New valves should b...

Re: Fire Extinguisher

I'm an outdoor ed instructor and have been unfortunate enough to witness 2 tent fires over the years. Both in smaller tents than you're probably using, but by the time you've grabbed an extinguisher it'll all be over if the fabric is alight! Fortunately both incidents didn't result in injury, but bo...
