Re: Gear changes

When I say ‘reset’ I am referring to the throttle reset procedure. If you put your key in, press the start button only (no clutch so it does not start) then press the accelerator to the floor past the kick down point (ie bury it into the carpet) hold it there for more than 25 secs and start the car ...

Re: Gear changes

Sounds like usual turbo lag to me. Our 4.0d is similar if I am gentle on the pedal. Try it in sport mode so it’s more responsive and see if it still does it.....ours doesn’t! Failing that carry out a throttle/gearbox adaption reset and see if that changes anything....

Looking at winter wheel set for our 4.0d m sport .....

We have the staggered set up as standard, (333m alloys with Dunlop runflats) CAN I put on a set of non staggered rims with 255/55/18 tyres all round and not have any issues? Would I need rear spacers to ‘fill’ the arches a bit better? The other rims are listed as E70 fitment.
Cheers in advance.

Re: Have I been over inflating?

We have an 11 plate 4.0d on 20” 333 alloys staggered set up the same. I run Dunlop sport max gt all round at 39 psi. I get NO edge wear on any corner. My fronts have as much on the shoulders as they do in the middle and they are getting close to the wear bars. The rears the same although they have a...

Re: LCD screen replacement idea’s......

I had read about the ribbon repair. My screen has for years suffered with a segment missing from the display and its from the right hand side like an arrowhead. Recently it has grown and also developed further down. As it’s from the edge and some 15 yrs old I figured that the crystals had seen bette...

Re: Radio = Battery

Off topic a bit, but I changed my battery in my sprinter van late last year and mpg on a regular run I do, it went from 28.5mpg ave to 33+ the very next day driving absolutely no different as I’ve done that boring same journey 5 days a week for over 4 yrs. I could only think what with everything bei...

Re: Sat nav question....

Cheers for that. Yes i noticed on a trip in dorset earlier this year that it seemed delayed as i was expecting a queue of traffic in a few miles but never encountered what it led me to believe. However it has also been accurate at times and i couldnt understand why. I know about the other ways as i ...

Sat nav question....

When using my sat nav and have a route selected it will show if there are traffic jams or road closures etc ( major accidents etc) How does it know all this as I don’t pay for anything to enable such ‘live’ data? I’ve owned it for nearly 3 years (11) plate and its always been like this. Also it’s th...

Re: 20” Style 333 Alloys in Grey with nearly new Dunlop Runflats

Hi there, I’m possibly interested in these but can i check something first. On the second picture, approximately at 10 o clock there looks to be a cut/chunk missing on the side wall directly inline with what looks like a touch up to the powder coating and rim. How deep is that?
Cheers, Paul.

Re: Window goes back down

You have obviously checked with your eyes that nothing has gotten into the grove for the window to sit up against at the top edge ? Also worth a go is to hold the button down for the whole movement and up for the whole movement rather than flicking it. May reset something (works on older BMW’s if yo...

Re: Tyre question

I’m also watching with interest. The only thing my old brain is telling me is those tyres you have fitted show an A rating for grip in the wet. My cynical side of me says they are soft as........ and mileage will be interesting with the weight of the X5 and how they fair on the shoulders..... ? Sayi...

Re: Tyre question

Ive never bought into the different tread depth being an issue. When you drive anything other than perfectly straight all the wheels will cover a completely different distance due to the nature of how diffs work and that diffs are not permently locked. In that case, how does one wheel with say 3mm l...

Re: N/S front tyre wearing on outside edge

My dunlops are £220 fronts and £250 rears so yours are cheap, mind you mine are 20” versions and all pressured currently at 39psi to stop the edges wearing!
