Anyone ever removed/replaced the EGR cooler on a 3.0D MSport, please?  I am losing coolant by the gallon and suspect this might be the issue.  Any help/comments would be much appreciated.

My 2006 X3 D MSport is losing water.  My mechanic (BMW trained but not an actual BMW garage) says the head gasket on these never gives an bother.  Is he right?  I think I can see steam from the exhaust.  Any thoughts, please?

Sorted!  Broken camshaft.  Replaced - noise gone.  Thanks for your help.

Bad news - all this was checked, noise still there!  If I had any hair it would be torn out by now!  Any more ideas, please?
