Re: Wanted: X5 E70 20" Rear Alloy

I think the wheel you are looking for is the 227m, and finding a rear one that is still round and undamaged is a struggle. I cracked one on my first e70 and it was repaired under warranty as the wheel was still perfectly round. My second one had a wheel replaced, I think as part of the AUC check whe...

Re: Does anyone recognize these wheels?

They look a lot like BBS LM replica's to me, without the split rim bit.

if you google Bmw x3 BBS lm, you'll see a few examples.

Fumes in cabin

Afternoon.

Getting an ever so slight whiff shortly after start up and when stationary.

Having the recirculate set to A sets to sort it. Can’t see any oil leaks, nothing appears to be leaking/blowing.

Any pointers?

Re: Bmw diesel auto 2007 x5 gear box problem

So, whilst my car hadn’t done the limp mode thing, it wasn’t right, bit juddery, slightly erratic gear changes etc. so I did transfer box and full zf gearbox service ( I did both diffs as well whilst it was there). It sorted my niggles and it’s now driving perfectly again. Not saying it will fix you...

Re: Keeping the x5

It’s done well! I basically did it to give me a bit of confidence certain things wont ( or are less likely to) grenade. The Gearbox was £ 370 done, using the OE ZF kit, so it seemed like a no brainer. Hopefully, it’s all just preventative maintenance, based on things i’d read about and to be fair, t...

Re: Keeping the x5

Well, all done. Was sat wondering, waiting, thinking if it was overkill. Wondered if i was imagining things. Wondered if i was doing the right thing. Wondered if i should leave it, because i could probably use the money elsewhere.... So, gearbox service, inc mechatronic sleeve ( so full ZF 6HP gearb...

Re: Owners

I’d rather have 4 fussy owners than 2 not so fussy. Having bought all sorts of different stuff over the years, sometimes procrastinating unecessarily about there being a better suited car potentially round the corner, I’ve come to the following conclusions. Buy on condition. Verifiable maintenance, ...

Re: Keeping the x5

Ok, so, tyres are done ( camber wear, outer front, inner rear) as is transfer box ( preventative maintenance and it feels better already) next on the list. 1/ rear pads - mot advisory but 3500 left on idrive 2/ Suspension arm - mot advisory 3/ gearbox service - its about that time 4/ Diffs - front a...

Re: 2011 E70 Transfer Box issue

I have a 2009 e70 and mine started to show signs of transfer box issues No low speed judder but under load I felt it slightly and from about 40 mph it had started to judder quite a bit. Tyres were 5 years old and were showing wear on outer edge of fronts and inner edge in rears so changed all 4 for ...

Keeping the x5

Think it’s a keeper. In an uncertain world, if in doubt, do nowt is my motto, so am going to tidy it up a bit. Noticed an ever so slight transmission grumble under load, almost like clutch slip. It doesn’t do when shuffling about, but when you press on from lower speeds, it’s just noticeable. It’s d...

Re: Wheel advice - 227M

Evening All. Have scored a front wheel so will hopefully collect it in the next day or so ( £200 but minto, refurbed with no damage, buckles or cracks etc) Stupid questions but i'm guessing I can reuse the Tpms from the original? Also, if so should a normal tyre place have what they need to swap eve...

Wheel advice - 227M

Morning, so it looks like ive bent a wheel. No big deal but the inner edge flat spot is showing a tiny crack as well. Wheel repair guy says if he sorts the buckle and welds it, it still wont be great. no problem, but 227m fronts are hard to come by without buying new. Anyone got any alternative idea...
