Re: Seat base replacement
The seat base foam is available individually, and they don't appear to be 'sided' so either seat will do. You'd need to get the right base though (standard/sport/comfort) and if you have comfort seats, there are a few different bases depending on options. If you've tried to trim the foam, that means...

Why wreck a perfectly good car? :'(
Don't worry, it was never a good car. It's ex-police, so it doesn't even have stuff that was standard equipment on retail models, like parking sensors. You literally couldn't buy an X5 this badly specced.

Re: Battery Issues and Dealer Woes
is there any point buying AUC from BMW?
I guess it depends on your expectations. If you work on the assumption that main dealer 'technicians' are the best people out there for diagnosing and fixing your car then I think you're in for a lot of disappointment. In f...

Re: Dash Cam power sources
Mine works differently, in that it has an external psu that manages the 10s shutdown, but the more I think about it, the more I'm sure i can just connect both inputs to a switched feed without an issue. The 10s is there for a very specific reason, but I don't think it's relevant for my install. Iron...

Re: Dash Cam power sources
I have the same sort of system on mine and it is powered from the back of the front 12V accessory socket. To get to it you need to remove the trim from above the pedals, and then the right transmission tunnel trim. There is a screw at the front of this and it then slide...

Dash Cam power sources
Ok, I'm going to be hard-wiring a dash cam soon and need very specific power sources - Firstly I need a genuine switched acc supply (i.e. one that switches off with the ignition, not one that goes to sleep a number of minutes later) and secondly I need either a permanent live or a 'sleep timer' swit...

Re: Removing the console phone cradle
I think if you follow the instructions above for removing the two carpet pieces on the side of the transmission tunnel, then do the same on the other side, this gives access to the screws that hold the storage bin and arm rests in.

Re: How do you remove the glove box or just lids?
Do you mean just the upper lid? If so, there's a panel on the inside of the lid that just pops out with very little pressure, revealing 5 or 6 screws. Undo all of these and the upper lid can be removed by wiggled it gently while pulling it towards you. I re-glued my lid by spreading contact adhesive...
