Re: Heater/ Blower Fan Stopped Working. (Location of FSR Unit?)

I changed mine twice on my E53.....a tight squeeze requires seat fully back and IIRC lying on your back in footwell legs out of car. My only observation is that the fan still worked on mine albeit lower output and running on slowly when engine & ignition off. If no climate control display check ...

Re: Vibration shudder intermittent @ 55 to 75 mph

I respect your patience with this....fwiw I would have tried a similar process of elimination. Unless discs look bad I would try transfer box fluid 1st. I would think that if discs were warped you would notice greater vibration under braking. Other considerations could be a worn engine/box mount/dam...

Re: Advanced driving course

What you get from it depends on you but significantly also from the quality of the intructor/observer. I passed my I.A.M. a long time ago..... I had different observers. One was a HGV/LGV driver in day job...The other (who I changed to), was a then Class 1 Police Driver. The difference was night and...

Re: X5 3.0i Petrol won’t start...

Maybe do some googls research on M54 engine hydro locking. The UK cars can suffer if it gets really cold.. There is a cold climate pcv/ccv kit available I think......Sorry.....my memory a bit vague on this subject now.

Re: accident

Re the insurance settlement. Make sure you do your research on similar cars on autotrader. Insurance will not consider ebay or gumtree etc. Haggle on the total loss settlement. (This week I negotiated an 8% hike in total loss settlement for a car owned by my neighbour on back of a 5 min sraight talk...

Re: Christmas driving

I drove to London and back in my V8 Range Rover Sport and got 26 mpg.....(according to the computer). ULEZ compliant petrol euro 4. Not a BMW, not a hybrid and I didn't leave the UK (I only had 2 days off following consecutive 12 hr working days) But it was a longer than usual trip over the Christma...

Re: New Transmission £9698

The £3k bil for what they did would be enough to irritate me. If you paid for a diagnostic report on the box you expect a detailed report. If you paid for a diagnostic process without a report then arguably they don't have to provide a written report or printout. Personally if I had a quote for near...

Re: Omg the dark side..

....I never tempted fate with my X5 but still spent thousands fixing/sorting various issues. I avoided the SC as they all have ARC roll bars which can be costly to fix/replace. Mpg not hideous if warmed up and 28-30 achievable taking it easy on longer run. Superb over uneven terrain. Sat nav on pre ...

Re: Omg the dark side..

I am currently driving a 2005 RRS 4.4 V8 (not a bmw engine).

It needed some attention to brakes when I got it earier this year....Today I am having a recon alternator fitted as the original item has been a little noisy in the last week.

Other than that it's been more reliable than my 4.4i E53.

Re: Newbie E53 Owner

Hello & welcome..... My advice is....... 1. Try not to get too attached to the vehicle yet. 2. Carefully evaluate the whole vehicle, consider using a code reader &/or get someone knowedgable to check it over (my buyers guide may give an idea re SOME items to check). 3. Do the maths....How mu...
