Re: Sprocket to Canshaft N62 4.4l

Thanks Henry it seems that this is correct as I have spoken to a reliable source here and he backs up what I have figured and what you have said and there certainly is no way that there is any sort of locating dowel or keyway. I had seen the holes in the end behind the sprocket in the centre of the ...

Sprocket to Camshaft N62 4.4l

Well here I am again with a question that I hope has a sane answer.
How does the sprocket bolt onto the camshaft and hold it's position. From what I can see there seems to be no key, pin or spline and all that holds it in place is the bolt being done up to a zillion ft/lbs :?

Re: Replacing cam chains N62 4.4l

I am having trouble measuring the chain properly due to it being a bit inflexible on the sprockets. I have found a DID chain which is for the purpose but cant get my verniers far enough into a link to measure the dia of a roller. http://www.did-coltd.com/english/products/pdf/s_102-103.pdf The DID 05...

Re: Replacing cam chains N62 4.4l

I will investigate if I can get a high quality chain and joining link that is rivited and replace the oil pump chain that way. I worked for Honda Australia for quite a few years and we used to replace the cam chains on many of the bikes that way and never had a problem. Honda even made a special too...

Re: Replacing cam chains N62 4.4l

I wouldn't break those chains but may break the drive chain on the oil pump drive. Newtis says remove the engine, remove the timing cover, remove the chains. Big help! That is worse than a Haynes Manual and the Bentleys hardly even touches on the N62, just sort of mentions the existence of it from M...

Replacing cam chains N62 4.4l

I found a while ago the tensioners were cactus and decided that due to 215K km the chains would be a bit worn as well so purchased a kit. I now find that as far as I can see the oil sump needs to come off to replace the chains because the oil pump drive chain needs to come off to get the cam chains ...

Re: Camshaft Drag Lever Identification

I have actually found a number on them . There is a 1 stamped into the forging next to the retainer spring, the spring almost covers it but is probably very obvious when new so I am fairly sure that is what is the number Real OEM refers to. Do you have any info on setting them up and how to figure w...

Camshaft Drag Lever Identification

As per the topic how do I identify between the 3 types of drag lever (only a hunn could come up with a name like that)  there is the type 1, 2a and 3 what is the difference and how do I ID them. All 16 Exhaust rollers are failing with the case hardening coming off. :'(

I had a Pioneer AVIC-F980DAB fitted. It works perfectly every time.

I have one of those fitted to mine and the sound is great but because they sold bugger all of them in Oz they haven't got an update for the maps.

Re: N62 alternator bracket gasket

I have just finished doing it on my N62. Easier than an engine lift undo the 4 bolts that hold the front diff and move it about half an inch to the left then that awkward bolt at the rear lower comes out. There are also 2 bolts holding it from the front and when putting it back on put the top/longer...

Re: The Jesus Bolt

Thanks guys. Looks like a big feed of steak n chips is needed and I will see if the breaker bar is stronger than I am. I remember taking the one out of the M60 in the 7 series and how tight it was but just had that nagging doubt about it maybe being a leftie.

The Jesus Bolt

If memory serves me correctly this bolt is a right handed thread is it not. I have already broken one 450mm Koken breaker bar and am now trying it with a 600mm Kinchrome bar and it wont move either way.  I know it is torqued to something like 160ft/lb but this is crazy. It cracked going anticlockwis...

Re: A/C Compressor removal

It's not the pump that needs replacing but I need to get it away from the block to get the front cover off to replace the tensioners mainly due to about half of them being in bits in the sump. All I need to do is get that bolt about 1 turn loose and I should be able to do it but I can barely see the...
