Re: Staggered rear wheel okay as all round spare?
Thanks - that's really useful and gives me a starting point to think about a square setup. Mine's a D model and I don't mind having smaller alloys if it softens the ride and means cheaper tyres. With so many pot holes and speed bumps on UK roads I'm finding the 20" a bit hard work. Would I noti...

Re: Staggered rear wheel okay as all round spare?
Thanks Sid - that's saved me a lot of cash and effort.
To me this underlines why I need 18" of same size all round

Staggered rear wheel okay as all round spare?
Hi all, So one of my rear wheel's is cracked. I've since bought another (used) one and can get the original one welded to keep as a spare. It's a rear and I have the staggered 20" set up (although I want to drop to 18" all round at some point). My question is can I use the rear as a spare ...

auto headlight switch - seems to have a mind of its own!
Hi all, Bit embarrassed to be posting this but can someone tell me how the auto-headlight switch works? I generally leave it in the 'auto' setting (turned to the left with the green light on). Unlike my 3 series, I can see the switch is motorised but it seems I'm getting in the car in broad daylight...

Re: Anyone know the minimum tyre load rating for a 7 seater?
Thanks for all your replies. From experience, do you know if running 18" wheels would make the ride significantly softer and with less road noise compared to 20" wheels? Or would switching involve a lot of effort/cost for a minimal difference?

Re: Have I been over inflating?
Thanks all, I've dropped to 32 front and 34 rear, will see how it runs as looking for a slightly more forgiving ride (on me, the tyres and the transmission!).

Anyone know the minimum tyre load rating for a 7 seater?
I'm considering swapping to smaller wheels (than 20") with bigger tyres (maybe 18 or 19") but want to ensure I'm still within BMW's options for this car. Does anyone know where I can find the minimum load rating for rear tyres? As it's a 7 seater do I need to run a staggered set-up? The do...

Have I been over inflating?
I've been running 40psi in my 20" Y spoke alloys (which is what they had in them when I bought the car), but having checked the ratings on the door pillar it seems this is too high. This could also explain the extra firm ride (I know they are firm anyway with low profile R/F tyres) and perhaps ...

Re: jumping out of gear while driving
Hi all, Thought I'd give an update on this thread in case someone has similar issues and stumbles across it. So the problem seems to now be FIXED and seems to have either been caused by a faulty battery or injector (both were fixed at the same time, so it's difficult to know which). The battery was ...

Re: jumping out of gear while driving
Have just ran Carly, which is giving 3 fault codes that could be linked: Under transmission: Message monitoring gateway 000CF29 Gear switch: Hall sensors simple errors 00A834 Instrument Cluster: 00A559 (KL30g f Cutoff) - this could be from where I've had to switch the ignition off/on to get it start...

jumping out of gear while driving
Hi all, wonder if I could pick your brains on the following, which has happened twice in the last week of driving.. I'm pootling along in my E70 (3.0D auto) at around 30mph (not pushing it, so no stress on the engine) and the car loses power. On the first occasion I thought it had stalled, but it ha...
