Owning an EV for 12 months

I think it will take legislation to force batteries or modules to be easily swapped out by manufacturers , at present they are more than happy for them to be seen as a problem after the 8 years and help sell more new cars . :D

Owning an EV for 12 months

Nice informed real world writeup , I just wonder who would take a chance on these cars once the battery warranty expires at 8 years and you are on your own as such .I know many will last longer but as it stands that car will be scrap if the battery does fail. You must as you say have home...

Where is everybody?

Cars are expensive now  The i4 M50 I ordered back in 2021 was £68k. Today the same spec is £82k. An increase of over 20%!!! Suffice to say I wouldn’t be ordering one today. The cost of the 218 surprised me most 37k for a fairly "cheap " car :o I guess most pay monthly but with high ...

Where is everybody?

Yes while I waited for the airbags as its 35 mile away for me , they said about 3 hours but was twice that  A drivers airbag can be swapped in about 5 mins , the passenger one will be a lot harder to access but I'm sure they are will practiced now as the first letter was last year for the reca...

Alternator?

Does sound like a loose connection as sometimes it's charging but you will soon run out of charge and be stranded so I'd get it checked out.

Tyres lasting well 20k so far

I found winter tyres after abut 5 or 6 years the sidewalls go probably to do with the natural rubber used so if they get near 5 I run them all year to use them up. I was using Nokians on my last car and I think they tend to go porous and leak as they age.

Tyres lasting well 20k so far

IMG_20240311_162010.jpg Rotalla ice plus winter tyres on the front my e70 have covered 20,500 mile now and have still just over 4mm of tread left. These are not approved tyres but I'd definately buy them again, I've ran them summer and winter and no complaints at all. They do need a higher pressure...

I saw that pic of the porsche with the wings chopped, 9k for a headlight is insane and those cars will be impossible to insure soon. :headbang:

What do i change these tyres to

The general tyres don't look to have the super aggressive tread pattern I was expecting .More important is tread depth difference front to rear, anymore than 2mm is said to cause issues. If its jumping bad as you say there should be a code for the transfer box which is due to chain slack .Some have ...

I removed the wing to access mine when the filter was blocked , luckily I checked all 3 pumps as they were all the same on my e70 , it worked great for a good few months till I parked it up last year now every time you fill it a day later the tank is empty again  , looks like I will have to go...

Tyre pressure monitor

I'd check your tyre pressures and set them correctly as a start, on mine 2009 you reset it and it asks you if pressures are correct then it says you need to drive for it to activate monitoring.
As it uses abs if there is an active code it won't work as said.
