Where is everybody?

Same here in the nearly six years I have had my x5 the only real problem was the failure of the front radar on the ADAS, support here helped and saved me attempting to look into, new radar unit fitted, plus software updates part alone was ov £2k, fortunately and again advise from this site was don’t...

First real fault problem in 5 years!

Final update - hopefully New software patch received by dealer from Germany yesterday upload to vehicle radar calibrated and all good, collected car yesterday evening after 15 days. Very glad to have kept the extended warranty going on the car as the radar unit alone was over £2400 and that’s withou...

First real fault problem in 5 years!

Update New front radar fitted on 24th November however dealer was unable to get new software to load, so car still with them. BMW Germany involved and dealer is still waiting for the software patch to arrive so they can activate, program and calibrate the new radar unit. In the meantime I have a nic...

First real fault problem in 5 years!

Further update From mid October, until early last week car was fine no issues and everything worked as it should. I put it down to a low battery. However early last week it started faulting again, so booked it in with dealer and after diagnosis, it’s the front radar unit that’s faulty. A new one is ...

Code reader for X5 diagnostics

Another update, car went into dealership for front brake pads and discs as suggested by indi, but pleasantly surprised to find it only needed new pads as the discs are still ok for another set of pads after the heath checks. The battery was up at 86% after a few minutes in dealership car park, so ho...

Which Oil do you guys use? and your service interval

Change the oil and filter in my X5 every year and have done every year since I bought it with 18 miles (yes eighteen) on the clock, well the dealer or bmw indi does, they use the oil BMW recommends for the car. Mainly dealer as his prices are generally the same or less than the dealer! The car has n...

Code reader for X5 diagnostics

Well after another 24 hours on the ctek , it’s up to 76%, but driving over to dealership tomorrow to have front discs and pads replaced, so will ask them for a price for a new battery, if it’s sensible then I’ll get them to check it and replace it, if not I’ll order one from Tanya and fit myself usi...

Code reader for X5 diagnostics

Very true, but I know the price from Tanya, so it will be interesting to see what the dealer suggests, although to be fair they have been very good for the last 5 years

Code reader for X5 diagnostics

Update on code reader Installed Bimmerlink for Android and used my existing dongle, it was very simple to set up and use, scanned for errors, a few came up but nothing to indicate any current issues with the ADAS system that I'd previously encountered. The biggest thing that showed up was that after...

Code reader for X5 diagnostics

Thanks for the information, I’ll have a look at these, but whilst rummaging in the garage yesterday came across an ODB adapter that I bought for a BMW motorcycle (used with Motoscan), a few years ago, it’s a OBDLink LX Bluetooth, and that looks like it is compatible with Bimmerlink, so that might be...

Code reader for X5 diagnostics

Hi Anyone suggest or recommend a decent code reader for diagnostics on a x5 f15, very unlikely to be wanting to do any coding, but think it would be useful to read and perhaps reset the error codes when the car pings up with the occasional message rather than take it to the dealer and pay their rate...

First real fault problem in 5 years!

Quick update, booked it in with dealer to have the front brakes serviced and have asked them to run the diagnostics and see what it shows up, at least this way its only one diagnostic charge and hopefully if an expensive fix, then it will be covered by the extended warranty. Also I think it's about ...

First real fault problem in 5 years!

Well had a look and nothing obviously loose or disconnected, but not very easy to see without starting to take bits off, so I’ll ring dealership and a local Indy tomorrow to get an idea of costs of diagnostic code check etc and try and find out if it’s a common fault with an easy fix, or potentially...
