Re: Help! Transmission Fault, gear won't engage

Ash - see my recent thread titled 'my e70 35d is poorly' from a couple of weeks ago.  Had a very similar issue on my 2010 car and it turned out to be the crankshaft speed signal generator.  Can't guarantee its that but worth a read.  Good luck!

Re: What is the most you have had out of your tyres ?

PPS  The  guy Peter T  who posted here, who got 64,000 K out of his tyres ( 40,000 miles ) he must work for Bridgestone  :))  or drive at 30 mph everywhere in a strait line in Canada. :)) No I don't work for Bridgestone but the key thing is I don't have the opportunity to push the car at all hard (i...

Re: So.... rear wheel set up...

I had a similar though less extreme situation though I did the tyre change before failure, thankfully.  I had my alignment checked and although it was out it was nothing like 3 degrees - the worst was less than 2 I believe.

Re: What is the most you have had out of your tyres ?

I recall getting about 64000 km from my Bridgestone duellers from new.  Main reason for getting them changed was that the backs had worn much more on the inside than the outside.  Fronts had a bit of life left but I felt it was better to change them all. Mind you driving is pedestrian in Canada.  Al...

Re: My 2010 35d is poorly...

...so in the end we paid just over 600 Canadian for the repair - about 340 sterling.  Got the part for free and a (little) bit of discount on the labour.  A reasonable compromise given that the car is almost 9 months outside its 4 year warranty.

Re: My 2010 35d is poorly...

Just spoke with the dealer and the crankshaft speed sensor was the problem.  At least that's better than the reluctance wheel but its still currently a bill of 780 Canadian including tax ( a little less than I was expecting)  The technician will be asking if they can do anything in terms of goodwill...

My 2010 35d is poorly...

:(  So I've been working in Austria for 5 weeks and yesterday the wife was driving my X5 back in Canada.  A mile or two into the journey she realised the car wasn't giving power and then she saw it had shifted into neutral.  After pulling over she saw the 'transmission fault' message.  The car would...

OK I'll fess up.  Rather embarrassingly I found I didn't have the boot cover properly latched in at the left hand side so it was rattling... :-[

Re: Bluetooth doesn't pair with 2005 X5

The button with the head and 'voice waves' on the steering wheel isn't the Bluetooth connect button: it's the voice command button.  I've not previously seen one like yours without a Bluetooth pairing button in the centre compartment but your phone definitely shows that it is seeing a Bluetooth modu...

Re: rattle at back passenger side ???

Yes I am - when I sit in the rear LH seat it sounds as if it's coming from behind me behind a trim panel but I haven't pinned it down any better than that, hence my interest in your investigations!
TIA for any hints you can offer.

Re: New F15 X5 xDrive40d SE on order - some questions to you F15 owners

Minor point on Adblue as Woofer mentioned £48 for a top up at 6000 miles.  I just had my 35d serviced and paid my usual BMW dealer $40Canadian for a DEF refill after having covered nearly 10000 miles since the last top up.  40 Canadian = 22 Pounds Sterling... BMW part number (in Canada) is 83-19-2-2...

Re: Hello folks...

Looks great!  Really liking the newer instrument displays in BMWs and the front end looks nice though I'm not familiar enough with the F15 to recognise all the changes to standard. Saw Broadway on the display screen - are you in Worcestershire?  We lived near Broadway when we were still in the UK. P...

Re: a few questions for those in the know

Autoclosing the boot from the key fob does vary year to year and region to region (which I know because on my 2010 35d bought in Canada the only electrical close is from the button on the boot lid).  I suspect it's to avoid litigation...  (even closing the windows from the fob doesn't work either!!!...
