Re: X7s

The X7 is pretty much the ugliest car I have ever seen - maybe we just have better taste in the UK!

Re: bull bar

You might want to check with your insurer that they will still cover the car with a bullbar fitted, before going to the trouble of finding one. If you don't declare it and then have a pedestrian accident you could be in all sorts of bother, and insurers may not cover a car that has one fitted.

Re: Latest escapades..

Next was the steering. I always thought it was a bit heavy and I saw a video on YouTube by Zero to 60 who have an E53 4.6. They sprayed degreaser on the steering knuckle by the engine then re oiled it and got lighter steering as a result. I did the same to mine and I used spray grease to lube it an...

Re: DAB radio interface

I fitted them myself. There are two options with the Digitizer - wireless fitting or wired fitting. I went for wired fiting which involves intercepting the FM antenna cable, but the wireless installation means that it just retransmits on an FM frequency that is picked up by the car's antenna. You co...

Re: DAB radio interface

I've got the 'Kinetic Digitizor' from DabOnWheels fitted to my E53 and my Jag XK8 - works great in both: https://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/product/k ... r-radio-3/

Re: Puncture

Most likely to be a fault in the tyre itself. To deliberately push through something small enough to create a pinhole would be a bit odd - you'd expect a knife puncture or something bigger from a vandal.

Re: Air Bag Icon is ON

If you own a laptop then buy this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fits-BMW-Scanner-1-4-0-Diagnostic-Tool-3-5-7-X3-X5-Z4-E38-E39-E46-E53-E83-E85/154021453500?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648 It will do everything you ever want to do to a BMW. I have this one, and it works pe...

Re: MK4 Sat Nav DVD player

I did look at realoem but there are just so many part numbers for the nav units it's almost impossible to cross reference them!

MK4 Sat Nav DVD player

Hi, The screen in my car has been behaving erratically since I bought the car late last year. Sometimes the screen goes from 16:9 to 4:3 aspect ratio, the screen randomly turns off and on (doesn't affect the radio). I figured I'd have a look inside the DVD unit, as I believe this controls the screen...

Re: INPA it's driving me nuts

One bit of advice, that stumped me for a while - when you have the software and the drivers for the cable loaded, you will get an error when you start up the software unless the cable is already plugged into the car. I was indoors loading it all up and then trying to start the software but getting t...

Re: INPA it's driving me nuts

I've been using INPA, Carsoft and DIS for some years on my 1996 Z3, and they all work fine. I recently bought an E53 X5 and wanted to be able to tweak some of the options without using NCS, so I bought this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154021453500 It's the easiest of the lot to use and has all the f...
