Exodus Aero roof bars and foot pack for X5 open roof rails FOR SALE

Hi All, I have FOR SALE a set of Exodus Aero Roof bars and Exodus foot pack to fit open roof rails on the X5. I bought them last summer from Halfords and have used them twice! They come in their original boxes with instructions and fit tool. They are in a very good used condition and are very easy t...

Software upgrade causing high fuel consumption?

Hi all, 3 weeks ago my 2007 X5 (3.0L Diesel) went into an official dealer (Vines of Guildford) for a software upgrade. Since the upgrade I seem to be experiencing much higher diesel consumption. It's literally drinking the stuff! On board computer shows that consumption is down from an average of 25...

Electronic Handbrake Help

Hi all, I've been having problems with my electronic handbrake for the last few weeks. Dash tells me it has failed and I have to use the release tool in the boot to get the handbrake off. I take the car to my Indie Dealer and they hook it up to the computer, reset the fault and it works fine again f...

Re: Possible air suspension leak - is it safe to drive on Motorway?

Quick update on this... Had the car into my usual indie dealer and they gave quote to my warranty company after inspecting the air suspension (near side bellows had gone - off side were fine with no sign of wear or damage). Warranty company declined to cover cost. Got me on a technicality in the pap...

Re: Possible air suspension leak - is it safe to drive on Motorway?
If the compressor gets it back up and no fault showing then I would say it would be safe, as I was driving like that until fixed but avoided heavy weights or use of third row seats If under warranty get it fixed But from reading posts here, if the other side isn't broken t...

Re: Possible air suspension leak - is it safe to drive on Motorway?
Does it physically drop in height over night? If no drop then no great leak I've just changed mine and now fixed see other threads of mine
Came to the car this morning and it has dropped on the near side rear corner. Started up the car and it rises up but you can ...

Possible air suspension leak - is it safe to drive on Motorway?

Hi All, Just got back from holiday loaded the boot up with the cases (heavy!) and drove home. When we arrived home I switched off and got out of the car to unload - heard a hissing sound from near side rear wheel arch. Thought it was a puncture but soon realised it might be the air suspension leakin...

Re: wet rear carpets
That is a shame. I have no suggestions but am interested to see what you find. My X5 has been stored in the garage mainly over the winter so I have not had any more leaks discovered yet. Do you have the sunroof? possible place for ingress.
Yes, I have the panorami...

Re: wet rear carpets

OK, so I spent a couple of hours last Sunday stripping down the rear passenger door where I get water on the inside footstep and carpet when it rains. Sure enough the vapour barrier was in a right state. The independent BMW garage that 'fixed' my electric rear window last summer damaged the vapour b...

Re: wet rear carpets

Thanks for the replies. I've got a set of Torx screwdrivers and a trim removal kit (bought for my last X5 E53!) so if it's dry this weekend I remove the door panel and check the vapour barrier etc. Although, reading a few posts on the net generally, the doors shouldn't be filling up so high - so it'...

Re: wet rear carpets

I've never had wet rear carpets before, but last night there was a storm - very windy and lots of rain. Opened the rear drivers passenger door today and water poured out from between the seals. I noticed water on the rubber seal where you put your foot to get in - felt the carpet and sure enough - w...

Heated Door Mirrors Not Working

Hi all, So the damp mornings have arrived. Got in the X yesterday and had condensed up mirrors and rear window, so pushed the heated rear window button - the rear window cleared but both door mirrors didn't do anything. Even after repeated attempts. I checked the fuse and it was fine. The mirrors mo...

Re: Headlight Washer fault

I have the same problem on my 2007 E70.
Tried WD-40 - didn't work.
Used a silicon lubricant I got with my Arai crash helmet and it worked all summer - but they have just started sticking again.
What's weird is that they only need a light push and they whizz back in.

Might try the silicon lube again.

Help - headlight lens going weird

Hi all, Can anyone advise me on how to deal with this. (see image below) My driver's side headlight has started going weird at the top on one side. I suspect it is from cleaning products etc over the years. When I apply a product like Armorall it hides it quite well - but is there a product that wil...
