Insurance

A really interesting discussion with more to come out of this I’m sure. Just one possible worthwhile point to note, I read on Martins Money Tips that due to the way insurance company algorithms work the best time to get a renewal quote is 23 days before you are due, after that (or before in fact) it...

Windscreen washer jets

This help…..? It’s for the F25 so should be right. IMG_3011.jpeg For your other question, I have only used BMW Screenwash concentrate (bought in 5L containers) after using someone else’s and ending up with gunked nozzles and pumps in my E53 20 years ago. The OEM stuff contains Isopropyl Alcohol tha...

Washer tank off was the only way for my clean out.
I think you might be right, I did the same thing on my Z4, wasn’t too bad a job… it can’t have been even I managed it without breaking anything

I wonder what's under the bonnet of this?

Probably been swapped for a 1.0 Ford Ecoboost engine… all show and no go, much like me

Windscreen washer jets

I have noticed the jets on the Mrs X3 are aiming very low, not much above the wipers. The question is can they be adjusted? Boot release

An update that comes under the “better late than never” category….

It turns out the switch needed to be replaced (the one under the rubber cover in the boot handle)… relatively inexpensive fix even with the switch from BMW, all works now as it should.

Boot release

We have been persisting with opening the boot via the fob, but now that appears to have ceased to function as well. Usually when opening the tailgate from the fob there is a nice loud “boom” noise as it activates, now it makes a quiet click noise and does not unlock. As an aside my wife has just men...

Boot release

Hello people, apologies for my radio silence for many months. Unfortunately I have been pretty ill this year, spending more time in hospital than in my var  Hopefully things are now on the up for me, so I am back with my first question for a while to challenge your knowledge once again. It seem...

iDrive sat nav 2013?

Quick update. Downloaded the map version in the link I posted, which took hours and hours for some reason. Uploaded onto memory stick and have now updated into the car which now shows Map version as 2023-1.

So looks like Mrs Boris is all up to date 👍

iDrive sat nav 2013?

Thanks X5. I have set up a “connected” account (my Z4 doesn’t have iDrive so I’ve never needed one before). I have a new shiny memory stick, but first….. I assume this what I need and will work on our 2013 system? https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/shop/ls/dp/Base_FullMapUpdate_gb Here is the build spec from ...

iDrive sat nav 2013?

Below is a screen shot of the “version” on our 2013 iDrive. Does this show the maps have never been updated since the car was new? Alternatively is it just an indication that the system is from 2013?

Sounds like that would make the whole idea prohibitively expensive, adding that to the cost of replacement seats and fitting
