Re: satnav in 2d only on 2005 dvd system
First, enter the hidden Nav menu - go to Setup and press and hold the right controller for 10 seconds. Scroll down to the bottom of the first menu, change Perspective from No to Yes. Second, while viewing the map click the right controller, select Map View, you should have 3 options, Pointing North,...

Re: Early AM setting off to work in the 4.8.......
That looks like about 2 inches of snow, max?
If people are getting stuck in that then they should not be on the road, even in the summer!!
There are Petrol versions of the Webasto heater as well as Diesel.

Re: Bluetooth fix....
The white connector on my eject box was loose, it was only charging intermittently untill I connected it properly. Interestingly, when I got the full warranty history for the car, the ULF had been replaced twice due to "failure to charge phone".

Re: How do I disable LED markers and number plate lights fla
Sorry, yes, across the bulb, to absorb the power in the pulse. You may also need a resistor so that the stored charge leaks away slowly enough not to illuminate the LED.

Re: How do I disable LED markers and number plate lights fla
The falshing is caused by the 'Cold Check' of the side lights and number plate lights. A 'Cold Check' is a short low voltage pulse that is enough to detect a broken filament but not enough to cause it to flash, LEDs iluminate faster and at a lower voltage and so will flash when the cold check pulse ...

Re: Comms pack set up 2 -X5 2003 E53 3.0d sport
[quote=""X5Sport""]I believe the issue is down to there not being enough capacity in the vehicle's CAN Bus control system to allow both bits if hardware to be present on the network at once. And yes the X5 does have a low data rate (~10MB springs to mind) computer network over wh...

Re: BMW ipod connection
If you have a quick look at some of the generic BMW forums, especially US based ones, you'll find lots and lots of posts about the DICE. They are a bit like Marmite, some people love them and others hate them with a passion. This sort of sums up the haters : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjhLuatFYd...

Re: upgrading bulbs on the ring lights
There are several 'LED Marker' kits available, the main problem with them is that your angel eyes flicker as the light control module does 'cold monitoring'. The voltage and pulse time used for cold monitoring is not enough to illuminate a filament bulb, but it does illuminate an LED for a short tim...

Re: Diagnostics software...it begins
I agree with x555, try a different USB/Serial adapter. Specifically get one with a FTDI chipset and not the Prolific chipset. A quick Google shopping search for "FTDI USB Serial" throws up http://www.tronisoft.com/2455.php?source=googlebase With is also one recomended by the Intravee people.

Re: Not for the faint hearted...
Interesting you had 620 miles range. I recon this is the highest value that the E39/X5 OBC will display. This is the maximum I've seen too : http://homepage.ntlworld.com/richard.parkinson7/BMW/M5/DSC_2066.jpg And the price of petrol better not go up that high, I've got 2000 miles to drive in the nex...

Re: aftermarket headunits
It should be remembered that these units are designed to replace the MID or IRIS type X5 radio, for these they should be plug and play with a little extra work for things like GPS antenna. If you already have the OEM Nav system then the install is significantly more involved. With the OEM system ALL...

Yeah, I'm sure most 'Mrs' don't notice these things. Mrs P has yet to notice the Evolve headers and race cats I had fitted on my M5 while she was away for a week! "I'm sure your car is noisier then it used to be." "No no, just the same, must sound louder since you had your ears syring...

Re: The Intravee (iPod connectivity) plus extra features
If you have a Mk IV then go to the 'Nav Type' option on the Setup Display menu, set the Nav type to the correct type. Then go to the Setup Search option and select 'Advanced'.
