Re: Looking at a X53 3.0d - Questions
I have Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow on the X6 and Pirelli Sottozero winter tyres on the Superb. Both cars are AWD and behave very well on dodgy surfaces.
Thanks, will stick to winter tyres then and avoid grabbers or all season tyres. My wife has a X3 with win...

Re: Looking at a X53 3.0d - Questions
My rule of thumb (even with my significant off road skills) is... If snow is higher than 20cm on the flat, it will drift to 8 feet.... Stay indoors.... If drifting is only 2 ft at the road sides/ 4 inches on the road, then go out... Any deeper & you will ...

Re: Looking at a X53 3.0d - Questions
Thanks very much for the information.
Don't like the idea of an exploding diff, I'll look out for a spare set of wheels to put winter tyres on I think.

Looking at a X53 3.0d - Questions
Evening all, Finally found a X5 I like. It's a March 2005 car, got a few questions I believe all X5's have rear isofix right? Is option "676 "HIFI LOUDSPEAKER SYSTEM " any good? Is it worth getting all the software\firmware\modules updated by my Indy before a remap? Is Double Glazing...

Part Exchange your X5 for my 2011 5 Series M Sport Touring?
I appreciate the changes are very very slim, but worth a go anyway :) My car here: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/bmw/f10-5-series-post-10/bmw-f11-525d-m-sport-touring-auto/5276669?v=b Looking for a 2008-09 low mileage silver 3.0d or ideally a 3.0sd. Re: Panoramic Sunroof Tilt Function Question
Hmmm, that black one is very cheap!! I couldn't have a black car though. It does make the one I drove today look expensive, although it was immaculate even to my OCD standards, plus 4 new tyres and a towbar which is worth £1500 minimum. I should probably just be patient and another will come up. Has...

Re: Panoramic Sunroof Tilt Function Question
I know what you mean, I currently have a 2011 525d under warranty and it's real peace of mind and it's only 4 years old and 43k miles. This X5, whilst it has a full SH, it's a mixture of dealer and specialist so can't buy a BMW warranty, plus it's just ticked over 60k miles so would be stupid money....

Re: Panoramic Sunroof Tilt Function Question
Thanks for the advice.
It comes with a generic (non BMW) 6 month warranty, but not sure if it will cover sunroofs etc, I'd need to check the T&C's.

Re: Panoramic Sunroof Tilt Function Question
You push the button upwards into the roof. No the rear panel doesn't slide back, only tilts.
Ah cool. I'll need to test that then. He genuinely didn't seem to know how to do it and suggested I test the roof, so I hope he wasn't hiding an issue with it. Will go ...

Panoramic Sunroof Tilt Function Question
Guys,
Tested a X5 today with a panoramic sunroof. The blind shade worked perfectly and the roof seemed to slide back and forward again smoothly, but how do you get it to tilt? We couldn't work it out. Also, does the rear panel slide back too?

Re: Are these mud flaps OEM??
So test drove the cat today. Mud flaps were all solid. I actually liked the mud flaps in real life, looks quite purposeful. Don't think I'd choose them, but also I wouldn't remove

Are these mud flaps OEM??
Nice car and spec, but those mud flaps look a little OTT! Are the BMW OEM?
If removed, can I assume there would be rub marks behind?
