Re: VHC at dealership
I don't know if there is even a spec but Id be more interested in getting the Autobox oil and filter changed if I was going to do anything ,think its 60k intervals now mines on 129k so a tad late unless its been done already but I doubt it. Changing the oil in a diff won't stop it failing if its gon...

Re: Omg the dark side..
The next car I was going to see after the x5 was a 2007 RR sport tdv8 too ,given the x5 only just managed 27 mpg with mixed driving the RR must be about 20 mpg at best , great machine though

Re: Who's using 20" Staggered NON Runflats on their XDrive and getting away with it?
My car arrived a month ago on brand new budget tyres ,20 inch staggered setup and seems ok so far , not going to change them for a what if or a maybe might happen. My car is highish miles anyway at 129k so you could argue any failures are wear and tear . :) I've no warranty to worry about and no nee...

Re: VHC at dealership
Mine were clearly well worn looking at the outside so yours are likely totally fine,as for other servicing I'm not sure ,I'm new to x5 ownership too .Oil and brake fluid are the main ones everything else is supposed to be lifetime but as we all know lifetime means 3 years 60k at the dealers.

Re: VHC at dealership
I got my front discs and pads changed today , the state of the inside of the discs was much worse that the out side where about 1/2 inch at the outer edge where the pads didn't touch and more and one of the inner pads had started to separate from its backing ! They where overdue a change Id say , go...

3000 mile a year ) I don't think what ever you choose will break the bank for fuel anyway unless of course you buy diesel which will likely clog up the dpf with all the short runs , trying to make a conscious effort with mine to avoid as many short runs as possible and use our other petrol car

That's the best place for it to burst Alan ,rather than out on the road Once you have an older luxury car an Mot is a worrying experience as if anything fails its likely to be expensive !

Re: Looking to purchase E70
No shortage of cars out there at that price level but you need to decide what is important spec wise and judge each car and see if its right for you. For me it was in order of importance something like : Sd ( Infact I realized all the cars I was interested in had the twin turbo engine fitted 335d ,...

Re: Which X5 should I consider buying next with a limited budget
2k a year forget lpg you would never get the cost back and lose bootspace and petrol only no diesels which will hate such low miles and struggle to regen and be trouble very soon.Fuel cost isn't going to be an issue at all for you so v8 all the way and they never made any manuals so its auto only to...

Re: VHC at dealership
I couldn't buy the oil and filter for that ,a genuine filter is about 15 quid on its own ! They obviously get their oil for less but it must be longlife 04 for particulate filter cars but all diesels have them for years now . Id think they will be using oe parts for the brakes just not from bmw , I...

Re: 3.0d won't start or even crank
The first cold snap usually shows up a lot of battery issues , I suspect the smart charging isn't quite as smart as the manufacturers would have us believe as accounting for the age of a battery would be difficult with different makes of battery behaving in different ways as they age, plus its often ...

Re: VHC at dealership
Really dealers like to say all brakes need replacing if they are not 99% new as most won't check ,that and wipers easy money ! Have just bought brembo front discs and pads for mine from ecp , hope they will be fine but I expect discs don't last that long on such a heavy car.Brembo is a quality bran...
