Re: 3.0d won't start or even crank

About the coding, really if you are replacing like with like ie amp hour and type of battery then coding wouldn't really be necessary as it will be the same code as already used but won't do any harm! where people have problems is if they fit a gel type battery where a conventional lead acid one was...

Re: X5(E70) and the snow .

No way 17's will fit an e70 x5 with the size of the brake discs LEZ I'm afraid ,even my old 330d couldn't take less than 17's and it only had 325mm discs. Id think 18's must be very close to the caliper too as later cars had bigger discs 365mm instead of 348mm when I was looking on realoem to see wh...

Re: Wheel offsets

Those wheels look tidy anyway  :) A thing about winters is they use more natural rubber in the tyre as its more flexible at low temps but unfortunately it ages quicker too cracking and letting water into the cords which rots them .I've had  winter tyres that looked fine but couldn't stay inflated mo...

Re: Wheel offsets

I think the hub size is a little bigger on 4x4 cars bmw is either 72.6 or 74.1 I think.Id try one on ,see if they even fit over the hub centre as offset is also related to width and the 7 wheels will be narrower to start with so won't sit out much if any further I suspect if they are et30.

Re: Just viewed another E70 with decent spec.

Do you really need runflats ? Normal winters will be a lot cheaper and I'm not planning going down the runflats route unless they come free on a set of wheels certainly wouldn't pay to make the ride worse ...

Re: 3.0d won't start or even crank

If the gearstick is showing park id try charging the battery before going any further or a jump start from another car. The starter on my 330d was on the way out a few years back and it would spin they disengage ,yours is doing nothing so suspect battery first though it could be other things ...

Re: Just viewed another E70 with decent spec.

Despite the m+s marking they are really summer tyres or at best all season tyres ,those 19's sound a good bargain and just the job to put winters on once the other tyres are worn out of course  :) I did see a similar set locally but Id think they are gone now as it was about 2 weeks ago and I've spe...

Re: HELP!!! Please read below - Hesitation to complete loss of drive!

Genuine towpack cars must be quite rare , haven't heard any mention of an uprated diff and shafts to get the bigger tow capacity only talk of a bigger fan for the rad.  Has the car done a lot of heavy towing ? At least you are able to send it back ! Id have thought there would be no shortage of e70'...

I have just bought a litre of brake fluid, thought that would be enough, still at a fiver it won't break the bank unlike most other stuff !!!!!!

Re: Just viewed another E70 with decent spec.
When you change the discs, you are advised to change the Caliper attachment bolts too.  Not essential other than you need Threadlok Blue on them (that is a must), and a 110Nm torque setting.
Will get some threadlok on them cheers  :) Ironically my pads are fine b...

Re: Newbie E53 Owner

Welcome  :) , a few problems are to be expected at that age ,hopefully nothing too serious , I just got an e70 x5 and with my lightest slippers on the gas pedal and a longer type run I can JUST squeeze 30 mpg (usually 27 so far ) and Id expect the e53 to be a bit lower than that ,if you don't do too...

Re: X5(E70) and the snow .

Having had winters on my e46 for years Id say they are awesome in snow, you generally won't get stuck but tread depth is a huge part of that , really winters are spent at 4mm depth ,they can't flex the tread blocks anymore to aid grip so are much less effective.   I was looking around for some wheel...

Re: Newbie just got an E70 x5sd

Found I have heated seats and adaptive xenon lights  8), bet those are expensive if they go wrong ! , only noticed as I put the switch to auto lights and while I was parking could see the beam move  8) and I've managed to get the mirrors to dip again when reverse is selected ... :P Got another littl...

Re: just bought an x5

Adamx5 No they haven’t. Have stone chips on rear plastic arches. One side looks as if it needs painting. Let me know how much it costs to have them repainted as I’m thinking of doing that. As it spoils the look of the car when you get up close. The paintwork is damaged near front of rear arch when y...

Re: Just viewed another E70 with decent spec.

Mine has Zeta tyres all round and all virtually new so won't be changing then yet ,in fact of the few x5 e70's I've seen recently these are very popular tyres probably as they are a bargain price ! These should be much less of an issue I hope if they are all the same make and tread depth. They are m...
