You said in first post that brakes were checked and given the ok recently.
If they missed a sticking calliper then what else have they missed?!

Re: Thermostat ,is it the problem ?
I have not had this problem so I cannot confirm wether there is an EGR stat or not, however if you read this thread, it would suggest there is such a thing and coolant does flow through it. http://forums.5series.net/e60-discussion-2/problem-solved%3B-engine-525d-not-reaching-operating-temperature-70...

Re: Thermostat ,is it the problem ?
I believe that coolant passes through the EGR thermostat otherwise what would it be for?

You can buy a copy from BMW, they are obliged to sell you it under anti-monopolising regulations.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=envKMwftf6w See this thread too, someone else had the stat problem. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?1768512-High-engine-Temp-via-hidden-OBD I couldn't find the original thread to which I was referring, but this is a similar one, with the same problem.

I stream through my iPhone and spec.dock than using the radio on the headunit.

Would be nice if that worked with my android phone, its not like it's a niche product!

Re: thumping sound and red hot tyre
Tyres normally only heat up if driven very hard, or if they're excessively low on pressure.
First thing I'd check is the pressure. Do the tyres have the letters RFT on them anywhere? It denotes runflat. Not everyone is aware they have them.

Re: Soaking Up Potholes?
Guys Smaller alloys don't make the wheel smaller and make more of it go into the pothole. My 20" alloys are the same size as 18" alloys in diameter when you include the tyre. As the alloy gets bigger the profile of the tyre gets smaller to compensate, this is referred to as rolling radius....

Re: Death of DAB in BMW new builds?
I can stream internet radio using an iphone in my car but not this built in version.
I must say that DAB is bloody annoying, the signal is awful. Certainly not an advancement in my opinion.
FM was far more stable.
